How to Get a Discount on Sirius XM Radio Subscription

Called this number today. Renewed my previous six month deal, $39.67 inc tax and fees for six months Sirius Select. Initially offered $99 for 12 months but I declined and worked my way to this deal. Was persistent but polite and the customer service person was also polite. A bit of pain to do this every 6 month or year, but nothing overwhelming in the scheme of things.

This is just crap that customers who want to use Sirius have to call, grovel and beg.

They would increase their business exponentially if they just let everyone have the service for $25 for 6 months or $99 a year or whatever. Knowing I have had the price of $25 makes it impossible for me to pay hundreds of dollars for the same service and makes me angry that I have to call and beg. Also infuriates me that some of their customer service reps can let you have the special price but don't because they have the power to inconvenience people just because they can.

I called the above number and was successful at getting another 5 months for $25. Was originally offered the $99 for 1 year, but after saying I wasn't interested the rep spoke with his supervisor and offered me my original deal for $25. Thanks for the advice. Well worth it!

Just got off the phone, and told them 'I just got my renewal bill, and it is too high. So I will have to cancel both cars unless he could make me a better deal.' He instantly came back with the same deal I previously had... 30.00 for sirius select for 6 months each car. with taxes it was 76.09 total. He is sending me the new bill. FYI... I will pay by check so they cannot charge my credit card when the renewal comes up. Last time i paid by credit card, and made sure it was a one time only charge,..and they did not recharge... Thank you for all the tips!

Feb 19, 2017, I called them stating I would like to cancel due to price went more than double from 1 year to the next. So in lieu of paying $225, it was $99 (plus fees) for another 12 month subscription. I was happy. It didn't take any arguing. Very easy process. For about $9/mth I thought it was well worth it.

2/20/17 Just off the phone. didn't even have to ask. I have a home radio and 2 car radios. Have been paying $42 per month. When I indicated cancellation, they immediately offered $24.99 per radio for 5 months, a total of $85.36 including taxes. They are going to bill me and I have a 30 day grace period to make a decision. So no credit card needed up front which is nice. It was so easy!

I just called and said that I had an email for a different account for $30 for 6 months and asked if I could get the same rate. The rep apologized and said no but she could give me a great rate of $99 for a year. I told her to cancel my service. She then told me she can give me $49.50 for 6 months. I told her cancel my service. She asked me to hold on while she talked to her supervisor. She came back and told me the supervisor approved 6 months for $29.94 and after taxes would be $34.10 for 6 months.

Tried to get $25 deal for 6 months but the best I was offered was $30 so I scheduled the cancellation of service and was given a cancel confirmation number. Called back later in the afternoon and said I would take the $30 6 mo deal offered earlier in the day without any problem. Guess the $25 deal is now gone. :(

I spent 5 minutes on the phone. I was offered the $99 for a year, then offered $49 for six months. I explained that was still too expensive. I was then offered $25.00 for 5 months. No haggling, no trouble. She just kept lowering the price until I said yes.

just got off the phone. I flat out told the rep I wanted the same deal as last time. She said 'unfortunately, I cannot get that for you because the system will not allow me the option.' I said 'cancel my service'. She said 'well sir, after looking through your profile I was able to see that I CAN get you 6 months for $30 ($34 w/ tax)'. I said 'thank you'. Just be polite and be prepared to cancel if you don't get what you want. You can always hang up the phone a call back. This site is awesome!

I just called, and after being transferred to customer retention, was able to renew with all-access for $120 ($136 after fees) for 1 year.

Just got all access for 99 taxes for the year, took some polite haggling. I dropped the fact that I've been a subscriber since their first days, seemed to help for those of you with longevity with XM.

Just spent 15 min also, threatened to cancel and they sent my call to an account specialist. That representative then gave me the 5 months for $25. Why do they mess around like that...just offer the 5 for 25!!! grrrrr!

I spent about 10 minutes on the phone and got 5 months for $25. I was dreading this call but it was very easy. I said I was cancelling because I did not want to pay more than the $5/month rate I'm currently paying, and he offered the 1 year for $99, I said no, then the 6 month for $49, I said no, then $25 for 5 months, and I said yes.

Only 9:38 on the phone. Asked to renew at the $99/12 months that had been on or would be cancelling service. There was no haggling or hard sells. I could have tried to ask for less but the kids were screaming in the other room and enjoy the service enough that $99 is fair enough in my book - heck hoping to keep them around for awhile yet - been with XM for 10 years. Just need to put my renewal date on my calendar.

I just called only on the phone for 5 minutes. 5 months for $29.83 the lady kept lowering and lowering the price
