Odd comments that have nothing to do with anything else...

i'm still applying all over the place. problem is, with 5 kids, it's not practical to just work anywhere... i have no way of getting the kids to/from school if i work across town, and can't afford to pay someone to do it for 5 kids (besides the fact that one still needs full-day daycare, and the other will need 1/2 day)...

i gotta get out of this funk.

Wow! I can only imagine! Daycare for 1 takes about 40% of my take home pay. I hope something comes up real soon. Maybe another position will open in the same school?
 
i student taught there for 6 months, volunteered as cross country AND track coach, as well as got paid as a softball coach. i tutored students and was a member of the school site, english language development, and intercultural diversity councils. i can't understand why i wasn't offered the job. hubby keeps saying not to take it personally. someone give me a good reason not to. doing too much? maybe. need to show i care, though.

okay, enough whining. it's not like nothing good will come of it. it's just hard to see it right now.

on a more positive note, i won $20 on worldwinner playing word mojo :)
 
clubchick, have you thought about being a substitute teacher? Almost every district has a very hard time finding subs. It's good pay, only thing is you are in a different district/room/setting every day. Just a thought. Congrats on the $20!

It doesn't mean that anything was 'wrong' with you, but perhaps someone had more (longer) experience (after all there were hundreds of applications, right?), more degrees, etc. or a bit of nepotism? In either situation, it doesn't reflect on you being inferior, you are not! Your day will come.

i subbed this year, and comparatively, it's a mere pittance. the pay is $90/day (x 185 days in a school year < $17,500), whereas a full-time teacher makes $39k + benefits...

not worth the price of childcare to substitute teach. thanks, though.

$90/day? You have got to be kidding me. Here it is anywhere from $120-145/day. Of course, the downside is no benefits.

when my college was looking for a new dean of engineering even though the top candidate was already the associate dean of engineering he DIDN'T get the job because they wanted to hire someone completely outside the university. Maybe for whatever reason they wanted someone who had nothing to do with the school.

But like everyone else is saying, its THEIR loss because I'm sure you're an excellent teacher. :bigok:

In the school district where I spent most of my childhood education, they like to hire their old grads...I'm never going to work there, but I'd be happy to recommend you...they start at around $50K. :wof:

We've got a nasty fire here in our county. It started two days ago by lightning and yesterday it went 40 miles in 24 hours, burning about 150,000 acres. When our ambulance got called out, we drove to hell and back. We had to drive about 1 mile into the fire and by the two motorcycle fatalities to get to our patients. It is dropping ash everywhere and the air is completely nasty to breathe. Yuck.

i ran 19 miles this morning... not only good for the body, but helps bring fresh perspective on life... good things are coming, i can feel it :woot:

And we have absolutely 0% containment on it at this time. This thing is CRAZY but at least the smoke and ash have been significantly reduced today. And yes, once I can get a picture off my secure digital card, I'll post a picture on here as we are driving into the fire in the ambulance. This will be a Spoofee exclusive and won't be available on CNN, MSNBC, or any other news outlet. LOL

Spazntwitch I'm so sorry to hear this! And I had the nerve to feel pouty about my Birthday! You and everyone effected are in my prayers! And God bless you for the job you do!
