Wow what verbose diatribe. Again sir, when you are willing to roll up your sleeves, get dirty, become exhausted and actually DO something instead of sitting about contemplating your engineering navel and spouting off made up policies, then join me and other Americans, both Democrates and Republicans, who actually DO constructive work, most behind the scenes. I doubt sir that you would last one day before slinking off into the sunset, you sir, have no courage to withstand the same. Why do you think me and other medical care professionals are donating both our time and money to make a difference in a child's health care? Many a buck has been donated by the pharmacological industry for the same. It is indeed emotinal compassion that spurs us on, and, I make no apology for the same. Ask folks here on Spoofee and they will share with you that we all try to help other members when a crisis arises in their lives. Call it an emotional knee jerk, but, I assure you that it was and remains, emotions that spur parents on to take care of their families and children. Over medicated you say? Provide me with those stats. Most Doctors are monitored for the same, and that is no opinion that is pure fact. Your energy footprint is debatable, why no car pool, or better yet bike, walk, or take a metro system? You hide behind your proported gas mileage, yet once again, refuse to change your standards. Your folly and foible is as transparent as your useless argument. There are those of us who actually act and work, then there are those who have gastroenteritis of the mouth. It is clear to me which diagnosis sir you fit. But, again, as an American I protect your right under the Constitution to express yourself despite the lunacy of the same. Perhaps it is YOU with more unrealized fears than any other Spoofee member here on the forums. As Obi Wan Knobi said in the fourth episode of the movie Star Wars (the first film) "Who is the fool? The fool, or, the fool that follows him?" Seems like you fit the bill nicely.

Wow what verbose diatribe.
There is a black kettle sighing after that comment.
Well, if you include improveing the civil infrastructure in America, well I already do that.

I doubt sir that you would last one day before slinking off into the sunset, you sir, have no courage to withstand the same. Yeah, but all that in the quote is nothing but fluff and doesn't dispute anything about Obama or myself or that 8 million American kids are without health care coverage.

Over medicated you say? Provide me with those stats. Most Doctors are monitored for the same, and that is no opinion that is pure fact.
You honestly believe that children aren't overmedicated for ADD, etc...? You don't believe there is an overusage of MRI's and other testing equipment?
Your energy footprint is debatable, why no car pool, or better yet bike, walk, or take a metro system?
I live 5 miles from where I work. If there was a train, I'd love to take the train. My job requires me to be able to get to project locations all over the region. So maybe half of my car's mileage has come from work, as in not driving to work but driving for work. And in the process, get substantially better mileage than any other mass produced car in the world.
You hide behind your proported gas mileage, yet once again, refuse to change your standards. Your folly and foible is as transparent as your useless argument. There are those of us who actually act and work, then there are those who have gastroenteritis of the mouth. It is clear to me which diagnosis sir you fit.
You just completely lose me here. You start wandering off-topic. Hiding behind my gas mileage? I've gone a month without filling up the tank.

You see, you lost me here again. You are just floating off in some random world about the wonder of Spoofee members and Obi Wan. Stay focused here. Trust me, you aren't doing me any favors by pretending to be open-minded to other opinions. Clearly you think you know it all... about everything, including me.

You know Jimmy, it isn't so much your facts and arguements, but the attitude that just makes me not want to hear you. I admire you passion and tenacity, but honestly, I'd rather be part of a group that's less-then-perfect but trying then a group...well one where the people come across the way you've been. My decision wasn't even close to being made, but I've been reading this thread and comtemplating. And facts vs. facts-well those are good-but life isn't just fact vs. fact, black and white and if you remove the emotion (which you seem to be advocating) ....I don't know, but to be honest with you if your methods are representative of the party your pushing-thanks anyway. I was already leaning, but you've kind of pushed me further to the other side.

So, you rather be part of the group that relies on "the gut" instead of "the mind and heart"?

What?! Removing emotion? No I was saying that a lot of post the guy was typing was an argument via emotion (a debating fallacy), not to ignore one's emotions. Honestly, it isn't that subtle, it shouldn't be that hard to understand.

....I don't know, but to be honest with you if your methods are representative of the party your pushing-thanks anyway. I was already leaning, but you've kind of pushed me further to the other side.
I'm trying to offer a reasoned, rational and honest perspective. Some in here are whining, crying, trolling that Obama is a Karl Marx worshiping socialist or that he isn't an actual American... etc... You seem to have issue with me saying (and demonstrating) that it isn't true.

Well, if you really are repelled by having what you think revealed as false, that is terrible. I find it awful that many are so anti-intellectual. If you went about choosing your doctor like you seem to be choosing your politicians, you'd suffer from that choice. Odd how anti-intellectuals pick and choose where they think intelligence is important.

Your Social Security

Just in case some of you didn't know this. . .

Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what.

And it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican. Facts are facts!!!

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be
completely voluntary.

2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the
Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the
General Operating Fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees
would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
now receiving a Social Security check every month --
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
the money we paid to the federal government to 'put
away', you may be interested in the following:

----------------------------------------------------

Q: Which political party took Social Security from the
Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it in to the
General Fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically-
controlled House and Senate.

----------------------------------------------------

Q: Which political party eliminated the income tax
deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

----------------------------------------------------

Q: Which political party started taxing Social
Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the
'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

----------------------------------------------------

Q: Which political party decided to start giving
annuity payments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right!

Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
they began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them
even though they never paid a dime into it!

----------------------------------------------------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA),

the Democrats turn around and tell you that the

Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of
awareness will be planted and maybe changes will
evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully
sure of what isn't so.

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT

FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!

AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT

FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!

Now why does that surprise you? The American people want to give the Presidency to a Senator of only one term experience! LOL LOL LOL

Cybermom, I'm glad you're starting to see the light. What I mean, I'm glad you're realizing what devastating travesty obamanation could bring to our nation. Unfortunately, the biggest and unfortunate reality is that more and more people, who were undecided, like yourself, may come to this realization too late and not in time to vote. :42:

I'm totally with preco on that! (whoops i missed a page, not locking the thread I mean) I thought being that for now it's still called America-we already HAD alll agreed to disagree?

If this thread gets locked because of passionate discussion it would be a shame. And one more instance of our liberty and freedom being squelched.

I must say, after doing some actual non-partisan research, while I don't agree with McCain on everything-the Obama is starting to scare me. The more I read, the more it sounds like Socialism to me.

Maybe it's all useless..."you will be assimilated".....only it'll be the majority being assimilated by the minority.

See... this exactly it. Nothing but, Obama will doom America, no substance, no explanation, just from the gut commentary. It is sad that some find that persuasive.

Reality is offering a dismal truth for far righters, Montana, North Dakota are toss-ups now. South Dakota and Georgia are beginning to swing to Obama. Indiana has just polled to Obama. Obama could be looking at a margin of victory that comes close to Reagan's defeat of Mondale. The Democrats are looking at obtaining a cloture majority in the Senate which will marginalize the far-right wing in the Senate and will finally give real Republicans a chance to exercise their votes for the first time in a while.

It'll be great, no you won't actually eat crow, you won't admit it, but when this Administration acts in an open-minded (Lincolnish) manner, and things improve... it'll be a refreshing change from this Bush Administration that has managed to put our Civil Liberties (mainly habeas corpus and the 4th Amendment) in grave jeopardy.

Lincoln and Grant had both formulated plans to send the slaves BACK to Africa. Sorry Dude, I have many black friends, and, I don't want them going to another country by boat or plane. The LAST THING we need is a Lincoln Manner in the country. His only goal was preservation of the Union, not protection of another race. It was Lincoln's Administration that coined the term "countraband" for the black slaves, they were not even entitled to a more humane distinction. No thanks, no Lincoln idealogy for me. All colors and creeds in the USA deserve more dignity than that philosophy. And yes, thank you for asking, I am indeed a Civil War buff/historian and I do know everything, just ask my son. Also, since I am indeed older and wiser than you, I do not base my own personal vote on ANOTHER STATE'S choice. I do indeed look at the data and go from there....McCain for me. He at least fought for the additional admendment to the 2005 Violence Against Women Act which helped to protect the Native American women from violence. Obama voted against the admendment. Obama is just not protective enough for me regarding women and children. When asked about the same he stated "I will form a special task force to look at the problem." WTF, that's ALL you got? A special task force??!?! American women and children deserve better, our families deserve better. Any act of violence against a woman or child is criminal, period. Higher majorities in the Senate have historically proved disaterous. You want a disaster go watch the movie "Titanic" or, maybe "Cinderella" if all you prefer is fantasy. Our founding Fathers knew that an all one sided government was not better than being ruled by King George and the British empire of the time, which was basically the one sided set up you are toting. Hey, can't wait to see you work the fields as a serf gleaning! At least you will finally get off your butt and out from behind your engineering desk and actually do something! Knowing you as a Democrate, you would drive instead of walk or take a bus! :claps:

Interesting fact.

George W. Bush (2/27/01) said:
To make sure the retirement savings of America's seniors are not diverted to any other program -- my budget protects all $2.6 trillion of the Social Security surplus for Social Security and for Social Security alone.
ADDRESS BEFORE A JOINT SESSION OF THE CONGRESS--February 27, 2001

Sounds like a Republican President is guilty of a $2.6 trillion lie.

So let's get off of this "Democrats only" problem creator garbage.

Lincoln and Grant had both formulated plans to send the slaves BACK to Africa.
The idea of letting former slaves going back to Africa pre-dated Lincoln. The capital of Liberi, Monrovia hardly got its name because they just happened to like the sound of Pres. Monroe's last name.

Our founding Fathers knew that an all one sided government was not better than being ruled by King George and the British empire of the time, which was basically the one sided set up you are toting.
Funny, seeing that the Republicans had exactly this three years ago. Were you complaining about that then?
Knowing you as a Democrate, you would drive instead of walk or take a bus! :claps:
Man you just trolling aren't yeah.

:yawn::yawn::yawn: Someone wake me when our young :slug: has a :lightbulb moment and actually acknowledges any fact that another Spoofee member presents to him. Seems you are :fish2: here Dude, and, since you don't have a leg to stand on against the likes of me, here, let me help you out...:crutch: oh no wait a minute...since you are an Obama supporter and won't walk to bike to work, here you go :car: No doubt your vanity plate reads MISLEAD1.

Argument via smilie. Impressive!
Someone wake me when our young :slug: has a :lightbulb moment and actually acknowledges any fact that another Spoofee member presents to him.
Well, once a fact is presented, I'll be glad to look it over. Daredevil plagiarized something from the net, and I responded to it in good measure. Don't blame me for your own or other people's inadequacy for discussion/debate.

Trolling? Seeing I'm presenting an honest point of view, haven't be using sarcasm, nor have I been saying things to rile people up, to say I'm trolling is misrepresentative of what I'm doing. You respond to me with sarcasm and elitism... can't actually bother to respond to what I've replied to your post with and you accuse me of trolling?

FYI on your tired issue of me driving to the office, it would take me 13 work weeks to use up one tank of gas (10.6 gallons) in my car because of my 10 mile roundtrip to my office.
No doubt your vanity plate reads MISLEAD1.
I am quite vain, but I couldn't get my name for my license plate, so I had to legally change my name to IF7 Y3L.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Well, I'll just open myself up to the bashing that is going on here. Go ahead. I'm not stooping down to any level on this one...but I will say that I think the better point is to say "you have the right to your opinion." (instead of the right to be wrong.) Obviously, everyone here thinks the other person is wrong. By golly, noone here could change my mind about anything regardless of all of the quoting and facts. I think religion and politics are just two very sensitive issues that are hard to discuss without quarelling. I think both sides have valid points in this thread, but I think it has gotten way out of hand. We should all act like civilized adults here (well, atleast semi-civilized adults). I thought we were all told to be respectful here. I need to just stop clicking on this thread. Someone give me a good slap on the hand!
