Read Gregory Macguire's "Wicked" last week and one of the Hamish Macbeth mysteries, "Death of a Nag" this week. Skimmed through "The Secret" last night...my m-i-l insisted I read it and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about anyway...

My sister read that and really liked it. She also has another of his books, but I can't remember which one.

I thought it was really interesting too, PugGirl, but I don't think I'll ever watch the Wizard of Oz in the same light again though! I'll be busy feeling sorry for the witch! LOL

I love his books! Son of a Witch was good, but I preferred Wicked. But Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister (Cinderella) and Mirror, Mirror (Snow White) were amazing.:bigok: If you liked Wicked I highly recommend giving them a shot.

Thanks for the recommendations, sugarbean! I'll check them out. BTW, love the avatar...it's pretty clever. My husband has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and is an avid James Bond fan, so I'll have to remember to share your avatar with him! :)

Reading "Forever Odd" By Koontz right now...already ready the first one , not too bad, i guess......

Last thing was "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card

Interesting...............

Hey, I read that book.. And a couple of the other Ender's novels.. Did you read the novel, or the original short story?

I am a big Arthur C Clarke fan. Childhood's End was phenomenal. Also a book called The Darkness Between the Stars by an author I cant remember, and I cant find the bok referenced online.. Maybe I got the title a bit confused.

I actually listened to the unabridged book on CD while I was driving. I want to get the others in the series as well.
Arthur C. Clarke is very good, but it's been forever since I read any of his stuff.

The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov

How did you like that, ravenwytch? I was in a book group years ago and I remember that was one of their selections, but I never got around to reading it.

Actually, it's one of my favorites. I first had to read it on college for a Russian Lit. class. I still have the copy (complete with the markings from the university bookstore!) The best way to describe it is Soviet Faust. There are a few stories going on at the same time, but it's quite easy to follow.

I started Harry Potter's last book and I haven't finished it yet. On Chapt. 34! or was it 36? Hm.
