There are two bears sleeping up in a tree, in the front of yard of one of the local diners here......

How's the diner's business doing tonight? Any takers?

The bears said that the "Family of Four" were very well seasoned and tender!! :teeth:

I stopped by and got dinner and they had already came down....it is actually great for business.....the locals are used to it - the tourists think it's great (lots of picture taking) and I am somewhere in between. :)

They look SO darn cute and cuddly - except when they push over our dumpster and string trash everywhere - not so cute then.......

My mom had a bear in her back yard. And it's a little patio of a back yard. But she was gardening and didn't see it. Until a neighbor came running through and she looked up at him like "What the h*@% are you doing running through my yard?" When the guy saw her face it took a minute till he realized.."You didn't see it?"

"See what?"

That's when he told her it was right behind her in the tree, came down and went running. He was chasing it with a camera!

That is what I asked! Someone told me that it isnt cold enough for them to hibernate? :noidea: I dont know much about bears....what I do know is that they are definitely not hibernating but getting into our dumpster almost every single night....... Right in front of our woods is a terrible trashed mess right now....Hubby put a chain around the it last night so they could not lift the lid and they pushed the dumpster over, which relaxed the chain and got in it anyways!

 I'm having Baileys and coffee :tee::faint:

Over 3 yrs since last activity! Wonder what that was...:tongue::shhh:

NOT COLD ENOUGH????? Where are you? I'm coming over. It's been in the teens and lower for at least three weeks here. I think we made it to the mid 30's one day, (our Jan. thaw)! I like the cold weather, but this is getting insane.

So I was checking the calendar and saw that a member was having a birthday.

Did anyone see the "about me" on "Spoofree" 's page?

Florida baby! Come On Down!
Actually we had a two REALLY cold days last week (low 20's). It was 24 Wed when I took Kad to school - I was like :yikes: Then Friday is was in the 70's. I was hopeful that the couple cold days killed off some bugs....but Friday I actually killed a couple mosquitoes! I grew up in Ohio and have lived in New England and upstate New York - when I moved to Florida - I signed up for the warm weather!

Bear Update

About hibernating:

Why do bears hibernate?
(Lansing State Journal, February 19, 1998)
When fall turns to winter and the temperature dips, the food sources for the wild animals becomes very scarce. Some animals wait out the harsh conditions of winter, constantly searching for food and shelter. Other animals, like the bear, spend the winter in hibernation.......http://www.pa.msu.edu/sci_theatre/ask_st/021898.html

Well this explains why they are eating out at "K-Ma's Dumpster" every evening......

I would'a never guessed there would be bears in Fl. I've never pictured them in warm weather. We had them in CA... but only in the mountains or Nothern Ca.

Learn something every day.

BTW...with wind chill today it's 2 degrees.
