Marlboro Outwit The West

Week 5's answers are as follows: Explainations are next to it!
#21 - Pitchfork Fondue: (Watch this video)= Steak on Pitchforks Cooked in a Cauldron of Fat on Jamie’s American Road Trip [video] – Eat Me Daily

#22 - North (Trail went from TX to Kansas) Cowboy Poetry - Old Chisholm Trail - Cowboy Poems

#23 - Spurs Spurs: Prison Made Spurs

#24 - Poker Chips (Montgomery Ward Catolog only one not listed in it was pokerchips)

#25 - Carville & Taber

Be sure you make sure you spell things correctly! and if anyone else has anything different let me know and let me know how you got it!
Thanks

I am in agreement with all of them except #21. I watched the video and it didn't give me any info about the clues. Did I miss something?

I have to say that I think Branding Iron Chili makes mores sense to me. First of all I really don't think of fondue as a food to feed the masses. Second of all in the question it says "...this specialty stirs things up...", could be a reference to the fact that (at least now I don't know about back then)3 of the ingredients are jalapeno seeds, whiskey and I think it said hot sauce.

I agree with lil obie, I've never heard fondue referenced in 'feeding the masses' at all...and chili is known as a western cowboy staple..so i think it fits better.

seems most of the forums are leaving out part of the name.. or one version of it... Pitchfork Steak, Pitchfork Steak Fondue or Pitchfork Fondue...
the Pitchfork Steak fits better, but still not sure between it & the branding iron chili
also on the last contest/giveaway wasn't there a rest. that did BBQ that the guy used a shovel.. [large coal type.. used to clean horse stalls too] out back where the grills smoker was??? I keep thinking I saw something like that.. it was a video.

I believe that Pitchfork fondue is just a cooking technique, not a dish.

Points for last week are up ya'll....
210 pts.. Woot.. up to 640 now..

Thanks all of you Spoofee people ...

While known for feeding the masses, this specialty stirs things up with a utensil more at home around a herd of a different nature. What’s the specialty?

The more I read this question the more I think they're looking for a person and not a food. I'm thinking chuck wagon cook or cookie. Anyone else thinking this way?

640 for me too.

well....I did pitchfork fondue and I too have 640 I think at this point the answers just have to be there not necessarily the right ones? who knows....wait we will know at the end I guess when they post all of them? Oy I am tired...this is making me think more than I want to right now lol

Ref question 21. In the movie America, they say that the food to feed the masses is cattle. They talk about the cattle drive North to feed the masses. Just an input.

Well, I was right. In a fevered condition, fighting the flu, I forgot to submit last weeks answers. Poop. I hope my teammates like Jerky, because that's all the points that they're going to earn!

I agree with tsgte6 chuck wagon cook or cookie, because chuck wagon cooking is a specialty

Marlboro said they will not at any time post the correct answers. I guess it will save them explanations & law suites

#21

seems that there is a split decision on question #21
pitch fork fondue or branding iron chili
I went with branding iron chili for these reasons
you would not need a pitchfork for a herd of horses or cattle...you don't keep a herd in a barn/stall...the term herd is usually used for open range livestock
how much of the masses could you feed with pitchfork fondue vs branding iron chili.
this is just my opinion....please answer with whatever you find to be the best answer. my wife and i only have 640 points ....so we have gotten something wrong along the way

don't feel bad I only have 430, But I am leaning toward branding iron chilli. Unless someone comes up with something better than pitchfork fondue. I just can't stomach that answer. But like I said I only have 430. But all my answers seem to have been the same as outhers with much higher scores. Go figure

One of our team members wants Pitchfork Fondue, I am leaning toward Branding Iron Chili. I dunno. This contest is gonna be the death of me!

I went with the answer that seemed logical to me...obviously not everyone has the same ideas as I do...I am not the captain of my team and as a team we stand or fall together...I have put tons of effort into this as has everyone and right or wrong I will stand behind my team...whatever we win it's more than we started with!! :)

Hey Guys and Gals, Check this out they way I see it we have 6 more Thursdays of points to receive. OK I will admit it I started out slow but somehow picked up a rythym. My weekly totals are as follows:
Week 1: 33 pts. (what?)
Week 2: 181 pts.
Week 3: 135 pts.
Week 4: 260 pts.
Oh well somewhere I added wrong because now I am at 615 anyway the way I see it even if I average 200 points a week for the next 6 weeks I will still have enough for a new computer which is what I wanted (and needed). So i'm good. Thank you all for all your help. I knew this wasn't going to be an easy contest, come on one million is at stake, but I didn't realize Marlboro would make it so hard and tricky since they make the question so that there really is no one definite answer, at least for some of them.
I really can't thank you guys enough. Sometimes I think (when I was younger, of course)maybe I burnt off a little too many brain cells but I do contribute as much as these remaining cells allow me. So here goes, and please be nice.
21. Branding Iron Chili - I don't think it's a person cause it asks for the specialty.
22. North - Because he say's when he gets back he will return home, but it doesn't say where home is.
23. Most people seem to be saying spurs but if you replace it with "rifle" it seems to make more sense to me.
24. poker chips - but what does it mean by "Which of the following wasn't listed in number 13?"
25. Carville and Taber - It is Taber right?(not Tabor)
So for what it's worth there is my 2 cents and I bet you all were waiting on pins and needles. LMAO big time

re:"24. poker chips - but what does it mean by "Which of the following wasn't listed in number 13?"

Lil Obie...the answer is poker chips because in the No. 13 issue of the Montgomery Ward catalog (1875) poker chips are not listed anywhere, the other items were.:)

It is getting close to lock in time on the answers. Question 21 is still up in the air. Is it Pitchfork Fondue or Branding Iron Chili. Any more input welcome.
