Free ringtones for Verizon Wireless customer

I own the VX8100...OK I get it to my phone OK but I can only save it to my sounds and I cannot use it as a ringtone...does anyone else have this problem...?...how do I move that file to my ringtones instead?

you can'y just change the end to Mid... that's not how it works

dudes,
your phone has to support .mp3 files. i'm not sure why mikew151 tells us to save it as a .mid. not all phones support .mp3 files. check out the owner's manual for your phone or search online. also, buy the data cable, it's worth it. the data cable is for transferring ring tones to your phone. i bought 1 for 15 bucks and it's worth it. i can change my whenever i want and don't pay anything. you can also use it to type names in your address book, calendar, change wallpapers, etc. again, do a search online and put your cell phone name and model and "data cable". hope this helps... i'm gonna download ALL these tones tonight... OOOOHHHHH YYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHH....... ;)

Umm....actually, I have verified this in this situation. I acidentally sent the first one as an mp3 (sounded HORRIBLE on the phone).....realized my mistake, changed the file extension to .mid and sent it again. This time is sounded PERFECT.

but that is not my problem...it sounds great but how do I get it from My Sounds to my ringtones or better yet how do I use a My SOund for a ringtone when it will not let me select those?

When I choose store it gives me an option to save to my music or save as a ringtone. But when you are playing the sound try to choose the menu button, edit button or mine is the button that is located on the bottom middle of my screen and it should give you options for that sound.

E815

I have the E815 and it worked for me. Follow the instructions above to rename the file and where to send it to. Basically when you receive the file, give it a few seconds for the message to load. Once it loads click on the menu and "save items." It'll ask you to save what and show a file. Select it and store. Store only and save the file to the phone. From there you can go to your media gallery--> sounds to locate the file and save as a ring tone. Good luck!

Hi there, I have the same phone but when I try to goto MENU and "SAVE ITEMS" I see only two options "Phone Number" and "eMail address", I don't see any option to save MID file. PLEASE HELP ME. I've tried my best for all. PLSSSSSSSS HELP.

You should save it as .mid file before you send it to your phone.

OK...but you guys did not answer my question. Casey what phone are you using? I am using the LG VX 8100. I just got off the phone with Verizon and they said there is no way to save the midi file as a ringtone but only as a My Sound and no app on my phone uses a My Sound (making it worthless to me). When I questioned Verizon they just said sorry about that and agreed with me that My Sounds is worthless. If you have that data cable can you directly link the midi file into your My Ringtones. I was told by Verizon this is this way so people cannot do what we are trying to achieve here and will have to pay to have a file stored in my ringtones. Don't worry I gave no info of this secret site here.

I changed to .mid and it said file type not recognized.

but when i sent a REAL Midi, it recognized it....

i changed it to .mid, but it says the file is unrecognizable

well the ringtone definitely has to be a .mid file...that is for sure

:bigok: Awesome! I know it works with the LG VX7000 because that's what I have.

And for some of you that were having problems...you have to save it as a .mid to begin with, if you just try changing the file extension later it won't work because it's not a true midi. Good luck everyone hope you get it working!

Doesn't work for a Motorolla 120E unless someone has figured out a way to do it. I can only save as a phone number in the phone.

How do i convert it to that type of file? And what do i do with it once i have it on my phone?

when you click save it has the field where designates a name for the file or you can change it to whatever you want to name it, for example if it designates "ringtone" as the file name just type .mid at the end of it and click save. the final saved file name will be ringtone.mid
