Free ringtones for Verizon Wireless customer

How do i convert it to that type of file? And what do i do with it once i have it on my phone?

When you go to save the file just type .mid at the end and that should work (it did for me anyway). On my phone when I received the message on my phone I was able to go to Options and then Save Sound. Then to set it as a ringer I went through the same process as normal. I hope this helps.

yeah that is great but once you email it to your phone what then? The only option I have is to save it as my sounds and those are not where you can access ringtones...everyone seems to be repeating the same thing here about saving it as a midi file...I mean how hard is it...the instructions are on every page thus far...but what about when you finally get it in your phone...then what?

I was trying to answer Cutie's question. Apparently you didn't read that section. As far as your problems go, I'm guessing that if your phone does not allow you to use "sounds" as ringers, then this whole process probably won't work for you anyway. As you said, you spoke to Verizon and what they said made it pretty clear that it won't. I don't know of any way around it personally. But good luck

I get this message:

You've got a Pix or Flix message! To See it, visit www.vzwpix.com From an internet accesible computer & follow the directions

I don't think I would've sent it to my phone to see it on my computer

Have you already set up your Pix account at that site? If not, that's probably why it was not sent directly to your phone.

I have a Motorola E815 and also i got the Data Cable, i can't figure how to use that data cable to upload rings tones. If anybody can tell me i would appriciate it.

if it keeps playing right away, go to your your documents and settings folder then \Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files. You should find the files in this folder as mpeg's

Where is the exact location of this folder??? like C:\windows\etc, etc.???

I can't find this folder, i've been looking for the past 30 mins. Thanks..

A couple useful programs

I saw this thread when it first opened and spent a morning researching how/what I needed to do to get these to work on my phone.

Here's what I found...

1. Simply changing the file extention does NOT change the type of file. While it may help in some situations, changing the file name is simply that, the NAME. To change the type of file, you'll have to convert it. Which, brings me to the first prog I found.

MM Convert

This link takes you to sourceforge (open-source goodies) to download this FREE program. It's a really easy way to "Convert Media file from one format to another one. Support any source format with relevant DirectShow Decodec, Supported destination format includes:asf,wmv,wma,avi,mp3,wav,mkv,mka,ogg etc."

2. Once I figured out how to convert and got the ringtones to work on my phone, I decided it was time that I figure out how to make my own ringtones. So, I soon found...

Audacity

This program allows you to edit your music files. It also allows you to save it in a variety of formats. It does not, however, natively support saving as mp3. That requires one additional step.

LAME (which stands for "LAME Ain't an Mp3 Encoder")

Download and install the LAME encoder. It allows you to encode your files as mp3's.

All of these programs are open-source, which means they're released under the GPL.

Volla! You'll be making your own ringtones in no time. :claps:

Your question...

regarding the location of the temp internet file folder..

It's in a hidden directory in your user folder. If windows is installed on your C drive, it'll be something like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

You can copy/paste that into internet explorer and it should take you there directly. Have patence, if you've never emptied it, it'll take a min.

Or, you can get there by digging down yourself if you set it to show you hidden folders. To do that...

Double-click "My computer"

Go to C:\ --> \Documents and settings --> \<your username> -->

Now, here's where the folder is, but, as I said, it's hidden. So, to unhide it...

In the Menu Bar goto: Tools --> Folder Options --> View --> Show hidden files and folders (It's in the list in the middle of that window)

Click Ok. *POOF* There's the folder!

:thumbs_do verizon wised up and now the tune just plays...not in a player...so you cant save it...i should of loaded up...boo hoo.....

Using Firefox, and I can still get them just fine.

Couldn't find an edit button for this, so I'm just reposting this with a link fixed. You need to get the data cable and data cd. The only thing I changed below is the link to the ebay auction.

For those of you with the Motorola E815, I use this method described on Howard's Forums:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=674803&page=1&pp=15

I got the cable from ebay. The number is: SKN6311B. The person I got it from was "oem_wireless".
Here is a link on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/MOTOROLA-MOBILE...840041512QQcategoryZ35209QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The price for that on this one looks like 16.90. (This includes the shipping and insurance as noted on the bottom.) oem_wireless has other buy now auctions of this cable, so feel free to look around and see if you can get a better deal on another one.

I also got a blue tooth dongle from newegg.com. Code for that is: "ZUB6111C". (Note: They screwed me on the rebate. So don't count on that coming. You may want to try another blue tooth dongle.)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833130024
This is $20 + $ 1.99 shipping - $12 rebate = 9.99

Now I transfer files without a cable between my e815 and computer all with a nice file browser.

IF YOU DO THIS, MAKE SURE TO BE VERY CAREFUL! AND ALWAYS ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO BACKUP THE SEEM BEFORE CHANGING IT!

I hope I helped someone here.

i also haf the VX8100 model, and yes, we cant do it, verizon sux ass for that

When this post first appeared I sent like 20 songs to my verizon phone but a few weeks ago when I went back, they changed the format of the song and I can't save them now. :(

Help

I have a Verizon phone, LG VX8300. I have the USB cable to upload songs to my phone. BUT…..it will not save them as ringtones. When I click on the Verizon link on your site it doesn't list my phone. How do I do this? A friend sent me your site but I can't find anything about

my phone. I see the post about saving as a .mid file but will this work with my phone? Also what software do I have to download to convert the MP3 file to .mid ?

does this work with a razr phone? i didn't see it as an option on the site.
