The first "house party"-style package I received was for the Nancy Drew party. That wasn't through HouseParty.com. But it was a nice kit, and it came with an Amex gift card to buy refreshments.
I guess that kit spoiled me, because every party kit I've gotten since then has been disappointing. I usually don't even bother planning for the parties anymore. This one is the exception, and that's because we want to play a Foster's Home drinking game.
You guys will still have a blast, Cybermom! The Blooregard Q. Kazoo cupcakes will be a huge hit.
Houseparty kits aren't usually a huge deal and don't come with Amex cards and such just product/ads. Its funny the two I got in a row- one was the Hershey's with like 30 pounds of chocolate (I treated everyone in my small office, saved a stash to add on to Christmas presents, put in stockings and eat ourselves and STILL had a ton to bring to a local Moms Night Out where they all gorged on it and STILL brought some home) and then the next was the Treo houseparty which had tons of ads for Treo phones, some small bags like you would buy perfume and fit in it, a small packet of sugar-free margarita mix (SMALL- makes like 4 and it was some gross flavor like Peach) and a bunch of stale, nasty candies. HP is totally a hit or miss and I agree, I never finalize a party until I see what comes in the box! I also won an Avon party and wanted it to just be a bunch of girls hanging out trying on makeup and lotions or whatever and I got a bunch of samples of the lip plumper stuff and my local Avon rep kept contacting me about how many brochures should she bring, etc. I wasn't looking for an Avon party with sales pressure, I was looking for an Avon HOUSE party with girls & make-up & fun!
This time around I just plan on having DS who is six, one of his buddies, DS who is 2 1/2 and a 1 1/2 yo cousin to watch the show and have a little party to watch the show in 3D.
I have never posted pics or blogged, really, will post some pics this time cuz the kids will have fun with that and it looks pretty easy! I signed up for the Scholastic one and will for the Gerber one also- the Gerber one will be cool to bring to my La Leche League meetings and the Scholastic one comes with toys it said (right before Christmas, woohoo!) and even just previewing the catalog and stuff will be cool for me and SIL.
