(Filled) Windows 7 Launch Party - House Party ~Apply now!

i put windows 7 on my laptop with windows vista and didnt work. i couldnt get in internet explorer! so lo and behold i went back to factory mode with my computer and with everything else new, i will wait until the glitches are out!!! so mad! it looked cool, windows 7!!!!!!!!!!

When you say you couldn't get in to Internet Explorer, did you mean that the actual IE software wouldn't launch or that you couldn't connect to the internet? Are you trying to connect wireless or with a direct connection to your router? How old is your router? How old is your laptop? Did you look at your compatibility report and update any drivers?

We are using a Linksys WRT54G and this works fine - no problems connecting - as soon as I started windows 7 clicked on firefox and I was working straight away

Avg

Ok, I don't know if this is a problem with Windows 7 or something with AVG but I am having a problem when Deleting and moving itmes to the virus vault . The Scan works fine but when I click on the heal all unhealed infections button, nothing happens and I get a message that some infections could not be healed . It gives me the option to remove as power user, still can't delete or move anything to the virus vault. Usually AVG tends to everything. So far all I have got is cookies , nothing major (I Hope). Does anyone know if maybe I have my settings wrong in AVG or what the deal is? Thanks in advance!~

That's what I have too, and have had no problems.

OK, I did a clean install from Vista 32 - had to go with 32-bit W7 b/c my CPU wasn't 64 capable :ohwell:
I have to say, this was probably the easiest and fastest clean install I've ever done. My router is working fine, internet is fine (hacked windows and installed google chrome...muahahahaha!!!), drivers all intact, and reinstalled AVG without a hitch.
Dixie, I don't know what could be causing your issues with AVG...maybe check their forums? I'm sure you aren't the only one having that problem. I haven't yet had to work with any threats.

I checked the forums... No help at all. Seems like a lot of people are having that problem and I tried on my xp and the same thing happened so Its not an issue with windows 7. I have about given up and ready to find a new antirus software. Luckily it was not a virus, just basic tracking cookies that I went in and manually deleted but I'm afraid that if I get a virus it won't be able to remove it and I'm not that talented with that kind of thing.

Windows 7 did install very fast. Like I said before I did a clean install of 7 and didn't take near as long as when I did my xp. I'm in love with this thing! The media center and music library are much better than Vista and make it a lot easy to organize. So far that's my favorite!

oh yea, I meant to tell ya , the moderators on the support forum for avg pretty much accused me of having an illegal pirated copy of Windows 7  I even specified it was for the launch, which apparently they didn't believe , They tried to say that was my problem... hmm... you think maybe their jelous??
I have to say though if you ever need help with avg forget the support forums. It is full of the rudest people!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, don't even listen to them bozo's, they are just jealous

I finally recieved my Party Pack yesterday. I have been using Win7 beta versions from about last January on. I replaced all of my Xp installs on all of my computers after the first week. It was that good even then. I am runnning Win7 RC now and will show off the features using this current install at the House Party. I am going to wait to install the Signature Edition untill I get a new rig. Hopefully That will happen sooner as opposed to later...

I received mine yesterday. To save time, I decided to do an upgrade rather than a clean install and if necessary (and if I like it), I'll do a clean install later.

IMO it was a little pain having to wait a couple minutes for the initial set-up and then close out of set-up to uninstall a couple programs (although I did leave a couple they told me to install :blushing:) and then starting set-up again and waiting to be told I have to reboot and start over, but once that was done I just went to bed. I haven't seen how good it is since I didn't have a chance to put in my key code this morning to give it a test run.

:boogy:

Update: I was getting a lovely blue screen and automatic reboot after I tried the upgrade. I then tried to call the special Launch Support number and it was closed.  As a result, I did a clean install and it seems to be working fine.

I'm sure it's just me, but as of right now and not knowing many of the fancy tricks Windows 7 can do, I'm not impressed in the least. Probably because I was up until 1am last night trying to get my printer connected to the network since Windows 7 was not compatible with the printer network program (although it had no problem with the printer itself). Plus I still haven't got it to work yet.

I guess I can't complain for the price.

I did a clean install too - didn't want to chance the upgrade and have it blow up in my face. (Murphy's Law of Technology - hits me every time)

FYI - I tried to install Roxio Easy Creator & My DVD 9 and got a message that the software isn't compatible with my new OS. After I closed back out of it, lo and behold it actually looks like it installed after all, because I am now able to use it just like before. I don't know if this will EVER happen again or to anybody else, but be aware that it happened to me once. Now to cross my fingers and install my printers...

All the hosts got the email :teeth:

It's a gift for the host, and you have to go to that link and download the 30-trial and be signed up by Oct 22 to get the Activation key emailed ($69.99 value).

The key will be emailed to you before the 30 day trial ends!

I did. :yesnod: Although I haven't received the key code yet.

I got the original email but I won't be installing this monster - it slows down your system dramatically. I used Internet Security for a few years before switching to AVG Free Edition, and I noticed a HUGE difference in system performance.

Norton 2009 and up are great products. Before 2009, they did tax your system a lot. But, there new products are very good and do not tax your system at all. I am running norton 360 and see almost no resources used from this product. Hope this helps.

I like this norton version - hated the earlier editions - but the reviews said it taxed it less which is true - but I want my key code before 30 days expires ... should have been in the email but not there ... hmm
