(Expired) Free KFC 2 Piece Meal Until 05/19/09

that sucks I put off going planing on taking my daughter to town to get her blood work down and taking her and her personal care assistant to lunch today. Now I have to buy lunch and not get it free. Irritating!

So, if I'm reading this correctly - the coupons are no longer valid and you have to get a "rain check" from your local KFC.
Hmm.....

.... While millions of free meal coupons have already been redeemed over the past three days, customers holding a coupon will now be issued a rain check. Those customers may visit a participating KFC restaurant to receive a rain check form. They will then receive via mail a rain check coupon for the free two pieces of Kentucky Grilled Chicken (manager’s choice), two individual side items and a biscuit. The rain check coupon, which will be redeemable at a later date for a two week period, will also entitle the holder to a free Pepsi to go with the free meal, as a way of apologizing for the inconvenience.

All rain check requests must be accompanied by an original coupon and returned to a participating KFC restaurant or postmarked by May 19, 2009.

yup, it's all over.
The KFC in queens center mall give out forms also, no coupon accepted anymore.
Well, on the bright side, we still have one more free meal + free soda coming.

Man, I still have more than 10 coupons...
If I know this is going to happen, I won't print that much.

wait so we still can use the 1234 coupon right? i mean when we give them the coupon along with the filled out form.

My KFC just honored mine! Took my mom and step-dad out for dinner today.

We are so sorry, but due to the overwhelming response to our FREE Kentucky Grilled Chicken™ meal coupon, we can no longer redeem the free coupon at this time. But we will honor our commitment to giving you a free Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal.

Please visit a participating KFC restaurant for a rain check form. Complete the form, attach your original coupon , and give it to the KFC restaurant manager or postmark per the form’s instructions, by May 19, 2009, and we’ll send you a rain check for your free Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal at a later date, plus a free Pepsi with our compliments. Your participating KFC restaurant will provide you with the form you need.

Please note that the redemption periods of the rain checks will vary. All other terms and conditions of the original free Kentucky Grilled Chicken coupon will apply.

Thank you for your understanding,

Roger Eaton
KFC® President

I guess in this economy they didn't expect people to go for a free meal?.

I just saw a television commercial tonight about this. I was on the phone, so I didn't hear what Roger said, but it's probably the same as what was on the web link. They really screwed up on this one--yeah, where have they been--Afghanistan? Didn't they know that free = huge response?

makes me think. they can give away free food to millions of people who brings in a coupon but a homeless person can't get anything.

I have to say I thought the CEO gave a very honest explanation~no political double talk which was refreshing for a change. He essentially said 'we screwed up' and that they had assumed that while, yes, free would have a huge response, with the two week window on the coupon they thought the response would be 'staggered' over the two weeks. Instead, since the announcement on 5/5 until 5/7 they had 4 MILLION COUPONS redeemed!! I mean that really is mind blowing for that period of time.

So they realize now they should have done the coupons by mail, in waves, so that franchises would not be overwhelmed and they are adding the free Pepsi to offset the aggravation.(this is how Suave and Cheerios did their free promotions to avoid mob scenes of redemptions!)

Imagine what this is costing them in these tough economic times and they are still trying to honor their offer, so I feel they are doing the best they can on this learning curve of the "freebie world"! We have seen ourselves screwed out of so many offers by companies that just say they were "overwhelmed by the response" and "NO! you are not getting anything". No one has every had a huuuge response and offered to give you MORE for the inconvenience! Despite being on Oprah, the CEO still could have used the "overwhelmed" and "bad economy" double speak to bail on the offer but he didn't.

Further, there is not one store in my area that will accept a print at home coupon for an item~my Target won't even accept its own Target coupons and has it posted clearly in the store~due to the easily abused nature of such an offer so maybe companies will learn from this very public failure to just stick to USPS mailed coupons which at least limits the abuse.

Thank you 0200, that will be great!!

I think KFC should learn from this. They should have had everyone go to the website and enter an email address, then delivered a one time printable coupon to that email address, kinda like what Quizno's did.
