I had the same thoughts. The memory is NOT returnable. and the memory (listed) is not even for this machine, and I not sure the exact course of action.

I have had counsel with one that is MUCH wiser than I at this and he suggests to let the credit card company go after BUY.com, for a "BAIT n SWITCH", which as you know is illegal.

As a precaution and for MY protection, I have made screen shots of MY order, Laptop, price, and availability prior to the item becoming unavailable.
I can send them to your email, (for a small processing fee, i.e. corvette, first born, roll of duck tape). Pls send a PM with your addy.

I seriously doubt (now that they are on to us ) this will not ship. But may end up as a billing nightmare.

It's funny when I can spend an hour just reading about a deal, it basically takes over my life. I think my mom's waiting in the other room to go grab a bite to eat!

Its 10:00 pm where Erik is, and seems to be a little late for dinner. Mom has been waiting probably since 5:30 pm when this was posted. LOL
 
That's okay, I'm still waiting since I'm burning a couple CDs, but we're going to a local place that we think is open late.

Thanks. It looks good so far, but somehow it's going to work out wrong, either we're going to get RAM, or the order will be cancelled.

It's a shame because I go away for a month August 1 so I probably won't even get to see this thing if it comes before August 25th or so.
 
Checked my cards statement online, I was charged for the laptop. I remember glancing through the fine print thingie and it saying " you will not be charged until the item is shipped" So, I'm feeling really confident about this. This will be the best thing ever to be found on Spoofee. I'm so glad that I check Spoofee ALL of the time. I barely missed this one.
Do you guys think this was just a mistake they made? If so, someone is totally gonna get axed. Or, do you think buy.com quietly changed the price to see who would notice?
The description of the laptop mentions a DVD RW module or something or other. I clicked BUY so fast I just skimmed thru the specs. Does this mean it has a dvd drive or just a plug in for one?
 
my invoice mentions that I purchased a laptop, not memory....weird. Did anyone else have the memory issue too?

The funds are only frozen on your account to make sure that you don't empty your account before the item ships. After the item ships, they'll actual charge the card and it will show up Buy.com. Before then, it'll just show the purchase with no indication of what it is. That's how my PNC VISA Check Card works, anyway. But yeah, the funds are frozen until it ships, then it's charged.
 
Debit card charged...

Mine is a debit card, so the money is out the door...and hopefully the merchandise will be on its way tomorrow...

Remember that it was on order, so I doubt they have any stock, so we'll see if they get some. I doubt it'll ship soon.
 
Uhhm no, debit cards work similar to credit cards in that when you make a purchase, the amount is deducted from your account (to make sure you have $$$) that amount will reappear in about 24 hours and only disappear once the charge is finally posted. Here's what Bank of America has to say about it.

Pending transactions are transactions - credits, debits and holds - that occur during a day, but that haven't been formally processed and posted to your account. Normally, they will be processed and posted to your account on the same business day that the transaction is made. In some cases, the amount of a pending transaction that you see on your account may not match the actual amount of the transaction. This is common. Some merchants place a small, initial hold against your account to ensure there are available funds. Once the full transaction amount is formally processed, that initial hold will be reversed. Such changes - known as authorization holds - often occur at hotels and car rental agencies.

Goto a restaurant, gas station, etc, most of these will be posted within 24 hours, buy online, the actual posting probably won't occur till the item has been physically shipped. Watch your account, I bet the charge disappears and the amount is credited back to you. It'll reappear if they actually ship the item. I and a friend move to Texas from Canada (where things work differently) a few months ago and he got burned by this. He bought a few things and when they finally got posted he hit overdrawn and got dinged nicely by the bank. Some of his charages were posted late so he thought he had money than he actually did.
 
I suspect that everyone who ordered this will be SOL! But you never know for sure.
