Western Digital 120gb for $9.99 in Circuit City UPDATE

I just called CC and spoke to some guy about this.

He says that Western Digital are refusing to honor the $60 rebate as it should not have been posted. He said his seniors were looking into the problem but had no definite answers yet.

I made a point of stating that I had all three rebate forms that appeared valid (ie within required date range) and my confirmation email also states that I have three rebates.

He took my information and said someone would call me back hopefully by tomorrow.

Here's hoping

Thanks for letting us know. You're in a better situation than I am because I haven't even bought the drive yet. I have all the rebate forms though and I'll have to try to buy the drive before April 30th (hopefully it will be back in stock), and then try to process the rebates, so we shall see what happens. You shouldn't have a problem filling yours though.

Yes, I have now also verified it with the WD Rebate center. I got the guys name and ID# just in case.

Can you please post the guy's name and ID #? In case they get denied.

Thanks.

muhahahahaha, I got one just now :) they were out of stock IN THE STATE, but someone returned theirs as I was going out........ I also have both tags from the shelf (one saying $60 and one saying $90). Yes, I did steal them lol. I spoke to the manager, who already knew about the problem. So, I got all three rebate forms, two price tags, the drive, and a hell of alot of adrenaline at the thought of getting this for $10 :P

Damn it!!

Awe man so much for me trying to look around the Chicago area for some. HAHA

:P AND GUESS WHAT?!?!!?!? I OPENED MINE AND I GOT AN 8 MB CACHE! W000000000T!!!!!!!!!!!!! It had a little pink note saying "Added Bonus: You have just received a higher performance hard drive at no extra cost!" So all you with sealed 120gb WD hard drives, rip 'em open and look for that pink note, it was on the top of mine!

Hope the $60 goes through, because I'm gonna resell and be RICH! WEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Western Digital 120gb for $9.99 in Circuit City Possible 8mb

Ok, news from the frontline....

Just got off the line with the Ringmasters at Circuit City and they are Haggling with WD on who is going to eat how much of this fiasco.... An answer is expected by C.O.B. today.

Sooooo.... Hold off till the verdict is in...

And one final note to all of the nay-sayers in this thread..... Go find another site... This one is for Gangsta-Bargainers.... If they are careless enough to post deals like this and send emails confirming the deal, then I am certainly going to take advantage of the deal....

:D :D :D :D :D :D

U guys are lucky.

U guys are really lucky for getting 120gb with 8mb..... but here is what i got.

i orderd the same deal from one of the store near my house where they were out of stock for 120gb but was available for pickup in other store which were 50miles away from my house.
to my surprise i made the payment and did NOT got the 60MIR form. but the hopes were still there that i will get that 60MIR.
and when i went for pickup at the other store, they have had soldout that drive and it was a mistake that they billed me for 120gb.
the store manager was kind enough to give me WD160gb special edition 8mb for the same price of 120mb that is $159 plus 2 rebates worth $110. so the drive with actual cost of $239 i got it for $60 with all MIRs.

it seems to be pretty good deal ..................isn't it?

Western Digital 120gb for $9.99 in Circuit City Possible 8mb

Well, it seems to be solved. Just got off the phone with C.C.

They are going to honor the additional $60 in house. They are taking all the information over the phone and when they figure out how they are going to do this they are going to contact everyone. Supposedly beginning of next week.

They have been assigning case numbers and giving their operator info so you can follow up.

The only catch is: You had to buy the drive yesterday and be in possesion of it. Any of you late worm grabbers are out of luck.....

C-ya......

:D :D :D :D :D

I'm still going to buy the drive. I have the PDFs of all three rebates with the correct dates on them, there should be no reason why they won't do anything about it.

w00t! I bought it yesterday! And I have it! and its an 8mb! For people that have information about the $60 rebate, please post it here (people you have talked to, exact phone numbers to call to apply for it, etc.)

Thanks.

Don't know why that would be. The $10 and $80 forms say thru 4/26.

Possible $60 IR because of the mistake

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but lots of folks are getting their local CC to refund $60 on the price if they bought when the three rebates were advertised yesterday. I web ordered mine (2 separate orders) for store pickup yesterday morning when the deal was live. When I went in to pick them up that night, I explained the situation to the CSR and asked about the $60 IR possibility. He went back for a minute, and came out with a "yes". He refunded $60 + tax on both drives. So it's $9.99 + tax on $99.99, AR for each drive.

Sweetest deal in a long time. And kudos to CC for the excellent treatment.

If you want the $60 rebate form with the 4/30 date, just save the current form as html file, and edit w/ Frontpage or other editor. You will only have to change the date and add the full path for the logo, and will look good as the original. I did it for S&G's and only took a minute. Not sure what else is posted, but would be happy to email to anyone who wants to post it.

I just got mine online for store pickup (make that two)

All the rebates posted in Erik's message state purchase dates that are inclusive of today 4/26/03 for all rebates, $80, $60, and $10.

I guess the only argument is over the original UPC from package.

I'll do the deal as offered and explain copy for $60 as recommended.

:D

Update: Scored a second drive in my father's name for pickup. I'll see if the $60 cash deal will be doable at my local store, the pickup point is not, my wife is picking them up, she doesn't like the finagling part. Then it's, I guess, they pay me $100 to take away two drives?
:D _______________________________________________ :D

Both just came home with the PINK SLIP 8MB Bonus

comprx, you may be able to still do all three rebates...... try it. You may get the drive for $-50...... its worth a try.

Info on verifying rebate legitimacy:

I called 1-888-292-0667, spoke to a CSR named Ryan with an ID # of 1566. I called on 4-24 at approximately 8:00 am PST. He confirmed to me that you could use both the $80 and the $60 rebates on this deal. He also told me that I could use a copy of the UPC for one of the two seing that it would be impossible for me two have two orginal UPCs, but he said to include a note explaining why I was using a copied UPC with the rebate that I was using the copied UPC. He also told me that he had been called several times eariler that day about the deal and had given the same answer to others. He even commented on how sweet of a deal this was going to be.

Hope this helps all who try! Good Luck!

BTW - I opened the box up last night and TADA, pink slip and 8 MB cache! Deal is even better than before.

eek, I caught on too late!

Congrats on all who got the hottest deal this year! (So far :))

heh, thanx :) I am selling it.... anyone want to buy for $110 shipped? I got the 8mb version, so it is considered the Western Digital Special Edition Caviar version. Thats just out of curiousity, so that I can avoid eBay. :)
