I think the "Thanks" button should only be on the orginal poster. Clean & simple.

my only argument is that sometimes a coupon will be added later (i'm specifically thinking of the chadwick's of boston thread in the coupons section, where there was the OP, then precocious added some new coupons)... then i'd like to be able to thank the additional deal finder as well

But sometimes there are additions/refining/contributions to posts that needing thanking. :look:

I like to see the original post and date. I'm confused a bit by the thanks button, but I'm pretty tired tonight anyway. I liked it better before though.

sorry sweetie... i thought the thanks in the deal discussion was to be used for deals you took advantage of. otherwise, i'd be thanking everyone for just posting deals-- i took care of that in my "introduce yourself" page. i didn't take advantage of the coupons, but i did notice them and appreciate that you posted them ;)

so thank you for that. you're awesome :claps:
 
As a relative newbie, I have to say the Thanks thing is totally confusing. Messes up the flow of the thread. I like when people say thanks and confirm that they got a freebie.

Plus, since I can never seem to find any good deals to post, my thanks thing will always be "0", which could lead to serious self-esteem issues.:tongue:

Interesting point, what if we changed the wording? from "The Following User Says Thank You to username For This Useful Post:" to "The Following Users Say Thank You to all For This Useful thread:"?

I personally feel grateful for all posters, I also don't feel the need to be thanked for every post since we have a rating system. There will always be that amazing deal that should get a full 5 stars & a note however that's not every post.

It's hard for me to get behind using "thank you" posts as a personal recording system, up post counts, or for attention since it doesn't have anything to do with being grateful to the poster?

If the issue is honestly to say thank you, then the thank you button for the thread & rating systems handles it for both sides.

Ever heard of 'multi-tasking'? Why have 5 buttons to accomplish certain things when a simple 'thank you' posted in the thread does it all.

What I have trouble getting behind, is why spoofer's motives are being scrutinized and judged and sincerity questioned by some opinionated mods ( :secret: observe there are no names mentioned, thank you). :hmm:

If the previous 'system' worked fine and the majority was comfortable, why upset the apple cart? We can't please all the people, all the time.....:confused:

Spoofee has updated the forums, so all the set up was reset. So that means he has to go back and configure them to how they were before. It will get there.. dont worry!
