ok, opinions please. let's say you make a cake. in fact you make this cake more than once and it is a family recipe. you give the recipe to a relative. you are invited to a family gathering...and suddenly this relative announces that she is going to make this cake. does anyone else find this odd/tacky/etc. etc. ??
That's why I don't share recipes.

I did derive some pleasure however when someone tried to make this cake one time and really screwed it up. I silently chuckled. shame on me. oh, psycho...I'll keep your suggestion in mind.

My mom gave my brothers girlfriend (at the time) a shared recipe and she totally flubbed it up. It was awesome!! :reddevil:

My ace bandage, full of Ben Gay, lust became a toy to one of my cats. :ohwell: :nonod:

You two need to stop hogging all the heat.

This tan I have going....it's from working outside, not from fun. Me no likey!
Mom and Dad were down here last week. When they got home, I talked to my Dad who said it was a breezy 75...........it was 88 here.

it's a great cake. thanks for all of the opinions. I know imitation is supposedly flattery...yada..yada..yada. I guess where I am coming from is that if one person makes a particular cake well, side dish well, etc. etc....then likely that person is the one who should continue to make that side dish well. I don't cook a whole lot of things very well, aside from desserts, and I tend to make them from scratch. Seems like I would have been asked to make the dessert for the get-together...then, if I said "Oh, I don't have the time to make that" or something to that effect, than someone else could suggest that they make that item. I share recipes so that people can make things to share with others. I did derive some pleasure however when someone tried to make this cake one time and really screwed it up. OMG, Sun I have had the exact same thing happen!!....and it was from a very close family member which made it very hurtful. I,too, can make plenty of dessert recipes but didn't really have another option if asked to bring a dish. A coworker gave a wonderful chicken recipe to try and have as "my own". I tried it out at home first (delish!!) and the night I was serving it said family drops in and I invite to stay for dinner~all the while explaining the story of now I would have a signature dish to bring blah blah. She asks for recipe and I happily share thinking everyone in the world is as respectful as I am. Flash forward a couple months....I get a phone call inviting me to a pot luck family event to which I proudly ask if I can bring my new dish and the answer is "oh! You mean **insert jerk family members name* new chicken dish?" She had immediately made my new recipe and was making sure all family members tried it as hers before I even got a chance to bring it anywhere!! And of course you feel like a child saying you mean MY recipe, etc..

When I shared the recipe and the plan with her I assumed if she made the recipe it would be to share with coworkers or her friends not sabotage me.

All this time I thought it had just happened to me, so thank you for sharing and for letting me vent!!! :ohwell:

It's 69 right now. High of 72. Summer is my favorite season and I'm being robbed of it.

That does it for my dogs too.
It was actually funny, but she snagged the bandage all up. I have to close my purse up because she is always in there chewing on my gum. I have a pretty deep purse/bag and the other day all I saw was a tail sticking out of it. The mint drives her crazy!
