I'm getting so anxious and nervous about the corporate challenge run in central park today...:bowl:

Don't be anxious or nervous. It's a load of fun, and the course is wonderful.

If you're going for time at all, skip the water at the halfway (it's only 3.5 miles -- unless you're crawling, who has time to get dehydrated in 3.5 miles?) Enjoy.

Thank you for your comforting words monkfish! I've never participated in such an event before with crowds of people and high levels of excitement in the air. It sounds like you've participated in the Corp Challenge before - will you be participating today or tomorrow as well?

No, I've moved to public sector. I used to do it back when it was Manny Hanny, and then Chemical, and a couple years with Chase. For Corp Challenge they only accept entry fees paid by a corporate check, so even if I got a team of co-workers together, we wouldn't be able to enter.

Enjoy yourself. It's a neat feeling running in Central Park and realizing that they've got all the roads closed just for YOU. Careful you don't get trampled at the start line.

If you're lucky, your team will qualify for the championships in October. For that one, they close down Park Avenue. Now that one is REALLY a headrush.

My hubby used to do the Corporate Challenge....it was fun......He ran, I watched ;)

Whew!!! What was a rush and the Corp Challenge was definitely a unique experience! There were so many people there - 15,000 and they were all very swift runners/joggers. I loved reading the back of t-shirts as folks passed me by - they were very witty, cute and kept me entertained while I jogged (Bloomingdale's "Little Brown T-Shirt", cute Google tank tops, "follow me to a greener future", "bank on us to finish ahead", etc.). The rain started coming down as soon as the race started, pouring rain/thunderstorm while we ran and stopped right when I crossed the finish line. It was a comfortable evening - high 60s to low 70s, with refreshing rain. I managed to finish the 3.5 miles in 36'16" -- yippee!!! :)

Just a shade over 10 minute miles? I'm sure you weren't the back of the pack. There must've been plenty more after you.

Good work!
