(Expired) It's Opera 10th Birthday Download Free Ad-Free Version Today,8/30 Only!

I just noticed something. If you use the link given above and keep hitting refresh whenever the codes appear, you'll get different codes each time! Also, you don't have to input a real e-mail address to make it work either!

i like both, each has their downfalls..
it seems firefox has an issue freezing with large caches..

IE for something that is supposed to be scalable, sure has a lot of errors with MS office :o

Lots of them are security vulnerabilities. You are more likely to get a trojan while browsing with IE than you are with Firefox. Most crackers will use those vulnerabilities to their advantage. Some of the problems have been fixed with SP2, but most weren't. IE's is supposed to have a password manager and malicious spyware, Gator or GAIN for example gathers that information first and sends it back to a remote server somewhere and you are none the wiser. Opera and Firefox don't have this vulnerability, the passwords are encrypted(i think) and you can even set a master password on top of that. Thats just the beginnning.

Either which way, I don't even use IE at all, when I need that type of interface, I switch to Avant instead. Anything but IE.

What's the point? Avant has the same vulnerabilities as IE since it uses the IE core to do the browsing. You can pretty much think of it as a skin.

It invites intruders into your home because it has more holes than swiss cheese. Its skin is outdated and it cannot keep tabs on anything. To top it off, it has a big brother complex. Not good sir, not good at all.

It has stifled innovation on the web for a long time. I'm a web developer, and I try to code to the standards. However, every time I end up having to reduce features, or fix something stupid that works in EVERY browser but IE, because IE hasn't been updated in so long. This happens a lot when using CSS, which Microsoft half assed supports, or supports in the wrong way. (Their support for the newer versions is terrible or non-existant.)

So for me using IE is like saying, "hey, I don't care if they haven't modified their browser since 2001." ... 4 years is a long time in the computer world, and many standards have been finalized and are already in use by other browsers. (For those that think 4 years isn't a long time, you're forgetting that even if Microsoft creates an updated browser, many people won't upgrade for at least a couple of years. So I still have the problem of supporting the old browser. If they had worked on it a few years ago, we'd be that much closer to being able to use new stuff.)

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Internet_Explorer to see that I tell the truth of them not having done any feature enhancements to it since then. In the mean time every other browser creator has been adding new standards and features, but I get held back in my coding simply because 90% of the people on the web don't realize what is going on.

Another big thing that pisses me off is the number of people I've had to help clean spyware/popups stuff off their machines. I've got most of them switched over to FireFox now, which seems to have solved the problem fairly nicely as I haven't been asked for help since.

What really pisses me off is that IE 7.0 isn't even going to have any new standards. It's basically going to be IE 6.0 with tabs and fixes for displaying images wrong.

Microsoft seemed very good at innovation when it killed off Netscape, and I thought they'd actually continue developing like they had been, but they are a typical monopoly, and once they had killed the competition they became stagnant and didn't do crap with their browser. (I actually switched to IE from Netscape back in the day, because it seemed better, then they stopped working on it.)

PHEW! I feel better now that my rant is over. :)

Actually Internet Explorer 7 is going to have some CSS improvements, but it's not going to be complete. I also get annoyed with there CSS support when designing web pages. It adds a lot of time to the designing.

Search the registry for Opera and try to find the reg code. If i was at my work computer I would find it and tell you where its at.

You may also be able to pull it from the help -> about menu. Alot of programs will display it there.
