Well, site still won't add to cart for me today, but I do notice that they've raised the price by $250. When I get the 'add to cart' page my system from yesterday is still there for $440 along with a new system I configured today exactly the same for $690. Still won't add either one to my cart, but I wonder if they found a mistake from yesterday or they raised the price today?

Yep; the price was just raised $250

There is no mistake, CompUSA just upped their price $250 this afternoon. Ironically, I now can add configured SR1010Z CTO's to my cart, but at the higher price. Sooooooo, I looked at www.compaq.com and low and behold, the EXACT same machine can be bought for $250 less. Something smells very wrong!!!!!!!!!

 :thumbs_do  :thumbs_do  :thumbs_do

Hrmm I just went and configured it - lowest I can get it to is $619 for the computer...shipping and tax is extra

no thanks - deal is dead :thumbs_do

Rebate changed again

Ordered mine around 12:30 at the local store at the better price...they said the rebate forms would be "in the box" when it arrives. The PDF online for the $250 went from 7/9 to 7/7, and now reads noon 7/8...I have a bad feeling about this rebate...that's a lot of $$ to fool around with!! :thumbs_do

Tried the website now and it states:

We're sorry, the online version of our HP CTO program is currently unavailable.

If you'd like to configure an HP, please visit one of our stores in an area near you

Just FYI

For all those who need the rebate form:
I had saved the form (.pdf file that expires on 7/9) on my PC earlier. So if you need one, I'll email it to you......... I love to share good deals, thanks to spoofy, and shame on you, compusa!

Thanks jopoe...I went back to the store last night...they had copies of the 7/9 deadline rebate forms there...were equally confused about the whole rebate situation as well and assured me it wouldn't be a problem getting the $250....let's hope they're right!!

oh, darn it all, missed out

Well, looks like CompMex is gonna screw with ya on this one...

Verily, I say unto you: "They must have had a tremendous response to this offer!"

To find the next occurance of this special entanglement;
I would recommend putting hp cto rebate into your favorite search engine.

Happy shopping!

For those of you ordering this with the 64 bit processor (like me) did you notice that the computer doesnt' come with 64 bit drivers. The compaq website also only has 32 bit drivers. This means that taking full advantage of the 64 bit processor may be unlikely. I just have one question for compaq.

Why would you sell a product with a 64 bit processor if you don't plan on distributing it with 64 bit drivers??????????????? :thumbs_do

I'd take the 80 GB hard drive instead of saving $10 for the 40 GB.

But more importantly, the $250 rebate expired last week.
