Discuss Past Months Allure Give-Aways Here

 I felt the same way when I was a paying customer! I just have the free account with them now though. :)

back in the day when i was younger  we had AOL as our internet provider, they had a deal free for 30 days so we tried it out and went to cancel after 30 days, after that they started charging my mom, she got a bill for $300 :eek: i went off the roof and we got it waived but i made a promise to myself i would never do business with them ever.

Yeah, they always use this do that to customers and try to act like it was a mistake! :mmph: Thankfully it never happened to me, but I'm sorry it happened to you and your mom.

Ok: I finally sent an e-mail to the person who supplied me with last year's August list (2008). It probably won't work this time, but I'm trying:

I am currently in need of the Allure Free Stuff winners lists for June, July and August of 2009. I'd appreciate your forwarding them to me via e-mail. Thanks.

Pat

Here is the answer I received as well as my response:

Hi Pat,
Thanks for your interest in Allure Free Stuff.

We are currently working on compiling these winners lists and will send them out via regular mail as soon as they’re complete. It is against policy to send these out via e-mail.

Thanks for your patience,

Allure Free Stuff

And I wrote (dated 11/2):

Thank you for your e-mail, but your answer makes no sense. The lists must be complete, because many prizes have already been delivered from the months of June, July and August. I believe someone has already reported a Sept. prize as having been received. Additionally, I personally received an e-mail regarding a prize I won in October! So, clearly, the sponsors have received the winners lists for June-Oct by now. Furthermore, I have received several lists via e-mail previously, so it is not against any company policy.

There must be some reason that there is always a major problem in getting winners lists from Conde Nast. Why they don't just post the lists on their website I have no idea. But it is clearly against the law for CN to withhold this information. Many people have sent in the "SASE" over and over, and nothing ever comes back to them. I personally know of a few who were promised the June lists (monthly free stuff and Readers' Choice) a long time ago and yet, they have not received them. This truly has become ridiculous. Is there any hope of streamlining this process and having a definitive method of getting all the winners lists on a regular basis?

I hope you will check up on this and find that you may, in fact, attach the lists to an e-mail as you have done in the past. I will be happy to supply you with my mailing address again if you absolutely must send these to me by mail. But, I really feel I am being stonewalled once again in trying to resolve a problem many of your readers are concerned about.

Thanks,
Pat XXXXXXX

got the CoverGirl Wetslicks today! :teeth:

Shame on you "lovefreebees"!! :pound: oh, you know I'm only kidding....

August 14
3PM Aquaphor Healing Ointment ($5.49) First 250
:loving::)

Oh, got one of these too....it was such a small tube....I didn't realize it was a prize...then I remembered - oh, it must be from Allure!

People keep listing that they got this prize, but I got only the 1.0 oz size.

It is worth just $47.50, NOT $74.50 that is listed as the prize!!

So are people really getting the 1.7 oz full size listed as the prize, or only the 1.0 size and thinking that it is worth much more?

Allure and Estee Lauder by law have to abide by their rules, they cannot substitute a smaller prize of lesser value, only a prize the same or more in value . . .

What has anyone done about this if they only got the 1.0 oz size?

I have received the 1 oz, I emailed Estee Lauder a while ago about it but, they never responded :ohwell:

I wonder if there was a transposition error on the price, but certainly the ounces don't match. I did not win this, but I certainly would contact [email protected] as well as Estee Lauder for any comments or follow-up. Does EL in fact market both a 1 oz. and a 1.7 oz.? That would be my first question before I did anything. Then, armed with that definitive information, I would proceed if I received the wrong item.

Oh, I just saw Hilly's response--but I would contact EL anyway. I'm tenacious about some things!

I figured maybe it was just a price misprint in the contest, so I just let it go.

we all got the 1 oz size, as cited in the emails we all received. I am sure Estee/allure will say the value and size in the publication were incorrect and that they are not responsible for typos. i looked at this months rules...looks like they covered their butts in the rules anyway. just my opinion. does any one have the rules for this giveaway?

Wtg on all the recent wins girls, nothing for me but the 1 prize but wanted to share what i got in email response with Allure on getting a winners list:

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for your interest in Allure Free Stuff.

We are currently working on compiling these winners lists and will send them out via regular mail as soon as they’re complete. It is against policy to send these out via e-mail.

Thanks for your patience,

Allure Free Stuff

What a bunch of crap, yeah right. lol

Wtg Pat, i wrote to them also and got the same email response. I love your email back to them. maybe it will actually get a response we all want. Good Luck!

All I can figure is maybe they mean they're compiling the lists without all the personal address information they provided to the sponsors. Just name, prize and date of contest.

Hopefully you'll get a list soon.

They answered back right away. Their answer is at the bottom, and my latest reply is at the top, so read from the bottom up:

Thanks again for your reply! I realize that addresses, e-mails, phone numbers, etc. are deleted from the lists I have received in the past, and so I am fully aware that the public lists differ from those the sponsors receive. I might mention that there has a problem with your databases recently with regard to the zip code field on some lists the sponsors have been working from--I've gotten things with only four digits and have had several e-mails about an incorrect or incomplete zip code. You may want to look into that. It appears the first number in the field is missing.

OK--so it takes a bit longer to do the public list (why deleting several fields takes so long I have no idea), but we have been told that the June lists would be send out six-eight weeks following the July 15th date when the sponsors received the lists for fulfillment. That means the June list should have been mailed to those who requested it by Sept. 15th, right? It's now November! I think you can see why it's so frustrating to deal with this issue. Every time you turn around, you get a different answer. By the way, I do realize you are probably short-staffed and are trying to do a good job.

My understanding is that several prizes from June have not been reported as received by anyone, and that is why I'm trying to get to the bottom of the June wins particularly. I myself received a June prize just the other day, which surprised me. August is another story. Since the August e-mailed lists I received for 2007 and 2008 ran about 1,000 pages, I'm wondering how you will be mailing these out. Clearly, this will be a huge expense for Conde Nast to print and mail such a voluminous document to all who request it. That's why it makes so much more sense to have a link to a winners list page so people can just go there and check for themselves. (This seems to be a new trend with some giveaways, as I have seen links posted to check after a certain date where the winners list will be available for other hosts and sponsors.)

Again, thanks for your response, and if you can give me any definitive info on June, July and August, please let me know the status of those months as soon as possible. If and when they are complete to your satisfaction, could you please mail me the lists? I could probably save you a lot of work and correspondence if we could establish a system for getting these on a regular basis. Thanks, too, for your good wishes on my recent winning entries!

Hi Pat,

The winners lists we sent to sponsors and the ones that are made public are two separate lists— since we must extract personal information from the ones that go to sponsors, the public lists take a little more time to prepare. Also, we like to give the sponsors some time to complete fulfillment before we release public lists, due to overwhelming reader inquiries about prizes.

That said, we are aware of the delay of some public winners lists and are in the process of working on them. Despite the fact you may have received a list via e-mail in the past, going forward, we will only sending them out via regular mail.

Thank you for your interest in Allure Free Stuff. Congratulations on all your wins!

Please go the June Allure thread to review all my correspondence with them regarding any recent winners lists. I just posted up most of it today.

RE: Estee Lauder prize stated 1.7 oz and sending 1.0 oz instead . . . .

Estee Lauder listed in the their rules the exact price ($74.50) and exact size (1.7 oz) of the larger of the two product sizes. It is not right to "substitute" a smaller size. So apparently those who listed that they got this prize already did not realize that they did not get the actual size or value of the prize.
