** DEAD ** -- $29.99 no reabate on abacus msn watch -- OPEN BOX ITEM

Defective one maybe? :(

Try charging it for a good period of time.

Interesting thing happened tonight. I was taping my school's basketball game for our local TV channel here and I glanced at my watch and I noticed that it died. I tried hitting all three buttons on the side, nothing. Came home, put it on the charger, lifted it up, pressed all three buttons and still nothing. Just when I thought it was a goner (I've been taking good care of it since I got it) it just came back to life when I came back in my room. Interesting.

Maybe it died due to your battery, and it needed a fairly lengthy charge to make it go? Im delighted to report that Ive had no proble,s with mine.

Hey, waxedstrong, you ever get yours going?

Nope, I charge mine on the arm every night and I've never below about 85% when I put it on to charge at night.

Not sure what that was. Now half the content isn't there, I guess it has to refresh now. The FM data can be pretty slow sometimes.

yes after i quite a bit of fooling around with it, it finallly just turned on, i wanted to do cart wheels i was so happy. :claps:

Yet again mine suspiciously turned off today, for about two hours this time. Frustrating, as it loses all its data and it takes some time for it to regain it from the FM network. I LOVE the watch and the service except when it does this.

Also wasn't too pleased to see Circuit City selling the watch for $40 brand new, they must be closing it out. They had the watch on demo and it caught my eye, and it looked like the watch was $40, I examined it closely and it said the watch, not the service, but you never know.

I'm debating whether to send this thing in for warranty or what. Is this normal or is this why it was returned in the first place? When I first got the watch, it was in brand new condition so I don't understand it at all. After a couple days of wearing it, I put some small scratches on the bottom clip just out of use, so there's no way the person before me wore it for more than a day because it wasn't scratched at all and the plastic was still on the screen, so I don't get it.

Waxedstrong, yours seems to be doing the same thing, any ideas? I press all the buttons and play around with it and randomly it finally turns on when I'm not expecting it to.

since the first time it has been working and hasn't turned off once, it was just at first it wouldn't turn on. i have no idea what could be causing that, i would try to contact the fossil number inside the booklet to see what they say.
for fun buy a new one at circuit city and keep the new one and take back the old one, i doubt they would check the serial, but i guess that would be dishonest. :(

Good point, maybe I'll do that if I get a chance. I tried calling the Fossil number earlier tonight at about 7:30 eastern, they close at 7, I'll try tomorrow. I'll do a Circuit City swap if they want me to pay shipping to repair it. Thanks. Funny, it turned on a few hours ago and hasn't had a problem since. I just don't want it to expire out of the 90 day window and I don't want Circuit City to stop stocking it since it is an old model.

Tiger direct has them again but it is for 49.99 brand new.

Not bad. It's funny, I did some research on these things and apparently the turn off problem is common among the first generation Abacus models.

I think if you send them in to warranty, they put on a special gasket and everything is good, and a lot of the newer ones come fixed from the factory, so we must have some older models. I've had no problems at all except last night I looked at my watch and it was just booting in and the Abacus/Microsoft splash screen was on it, but other than that, it's been great lately. I'll just have to find a way to exchange it through Circuit City if I do have a problem.

My watch hasnt had a single episode (yet). I guess my watch likes me better than your watches like yall.

Since i got it turned on, i havent had a problem with it.

I had the turn off problem once. Called their tech support, they had me hold down all three right-hand buttons for 30 seconds off the base. If that didn't work I was told to put it on the base and try again. It fixed the problem, hasn't happened again.

Good info. I will have to remember that when my watch has its apparently inevitable spaz attack.
