White Elephant Exchange - Plan Went All Wrong

One more reason to avoid "Holiday" parties

The above statement is a result of the below statement.

Our high school group has a white elephant party every year and the gifts are just plain odd. A few years ago, I filled a 50-gallon plastic bag with dryer lint and wrapped it. The guy that 'won' it actually used it to start fires in his stove.

Seriously..........

Maybe a good exchange party would be if everyone brought a Gift Card in for a specifice amount. At least you would have a fighting chance with a gift card and get an opportunity to try out a new store/chain!:)

Spaz......how long were you actually saving it up? :suspicious:

I worked for housekeeping at a hotel and so was able to fill the bag from three dryer loads. You wouldn't believe the lint that comes off new towels! :ack:

He can fold a fitted sheet like it was brand new & out of the package.....

this year I actually got something good: a Shiny red new 8 cup coffee press. I was going to grab my own gift too (A hyacinth bulb kit and a paperwhite bulb kit) but ended up liking the one I originally picked.

One year I worked in a business setting office...very professional but stuffy people. At their Christmas party they ran it like explained here. You can either pick a gift off of the table OR take someone elses, but a gift could only be taken 3 times & then it stays with that person. I'm sorry to say this but people got very mean and nasty at this Christmas party. My night ruined as the Christmas setting, the Christmas feeling and the Christmas spirit was all gone with the crude remarks made by the people both taking the gifts & having the gifts taken from them.

I can...and my wife can also since she worked there for about a year.
I would love to see your linen closet.......I am so jealous!

Well we had our version of a white elephant tonight - with ornaments. It was fun and everybody had a good time! :top:

sounds like a entertaining bunch and a good excuse to avoid their parties. I've never ever been to a while elephant party but lmao I would of had plenty of white elephant gifts to take to one with my ex omg he would bring me home some of the ugliest presents ever created...he's one of the reasons there are still velvet paintings being sold.

I usually take something I want and hope I can take it home. The parties I attend usually have minimum gift prices, but people don't honor the prices because they want to spend less and get more. It spoils the fun for those of us who spend the required amount.
