I'm not "traditional religious" but it was probably Worship of some sort that inspired the first songs. Religious meanings and music have just been being suppressed by the "soulless" for the past 20 years and before.
In the present, if a message of morality can reach the immoral then I'm all for it. I certainly prefer it to all the gangsta rap-crap. I'd even like to see something like this go mainstream except for the danger of the "righteous" thinking that their "way" is the "only way".
I like harmony in my music and my life, but to quote music of my generation, "You can't always get what you want".
