The redness and swelling is not a good thing Butty - take him to the doctor.
 
He did go to the doctor. He said and I quote " I don't know what that is...it could be a spider bite" WHAT??? Although this is info coming from my brother so it could be slightly off...lol.
 
Youll know for sure when the flesh starts (or fails to start) to rot around the bite.

That means Brown Recluse and that is dangerous. I think he should go to an ER or someplace that sees more odd things than your Dr.
 
Perhaps I shouldve simply said necrotize. I didnt mean to cite an example of a specific species.
 
The Brown Recluse is the only one (around here) that causes necrosis
 
I don't think there are too many (if any) brown recluse in MI. Anyway, it's looking better...swelling went down after the thing popped and oozed. lol
