(Sold Out) Nintendo Wii Modchip Wiikey for $29.95 Shipped

I am sorry if I am being stupid, but can somebody tell me what this thing does in dummy terms... Thanks guys ;o)

Already did. If you have an HD TV, this gives you an HD picture on that set.

A Mod chip after it is installed, will allow you to play Gamecube and Wii Backups of your originals. So that you originals do not get scratched or ruined.

LOL! I thought this was the component cable thread! Sorry!

ya, if you were asking what a component cable does in "dummy terms":convinced:

hey, guys, do we have to buy the LG Drive? and what else do we need to backup Wii games?

humm this isnt much of a deal. search diy wii modchip. $30 you could make a couple dozen, upgradable blah throw it away and flash a new one :)

edit: i have installed 13 so far only had 1 bad chip.

Yes this is same price as many other DYI modchips, but...
1) its easier
2) its DVD upgradable
3) it supports all wii chipsets
4) More robust (virtually none of the errors experience by other mods)
...

Saying this is not much of a deal because DIY chips are the same price or less is kinda like saying getting a new Lotus for $20k is not much of a deal since you can get a honda for about the same price or less.

i agree...its worth the extra bucks to not have to take apart your console for updates.....of course better chips will come out, and your always taking a chance with 1st gen chips(remember dino crisis)......but most people dont have pic programmers...i think this is the best current solution

You could just buy a premod. They are about $390 shipped. Takes the question out of what chip to use & how to put it in.

thats about $120 or so for a mystery chip installed....not a bargain

if u buy a wii retail, get a wiikey, know how to install it...thats under $300 for a modded wii shipped...thats a good deal

what you fail to relize is the dyi chips are the exact same thing, you are paying for a name. they cost me 73 cents each, the programmer cost me $12 you do the math.

exact same?:lie: flashable in the console by the end user?:bs:
if no updates come you saved/made alot of money:money:and nobody realizes you went the cheap route, then your a genius:claps:
if updates do start coming via the game disks, everyone will be forced to do updates or play only old games:verysad:in that case your:rip:OTP chip costs everyone more time, gas, and money:doh:and your very busy:coffee:
hopfully this isnt planned obsolensence so you can charge for updates:wof:
are you installing a 8pin socket outside the console?:lightbulb

I don't know what any of this means. I don't suppose there's a guide to understanding these terms, is there?

These guys are most likely selling a clone of the wiikey, since they are not on the resellers list at wiikey.cn

What this means is that the chip will not support upgrades, which means you could find yourself screwed in the future.

some i have installed a serial connector in the back of the console, just depends what the buyer wants to pay for.

these chips will all be old soon, hold on to your $. the new kernel exploits will shed some light for a real hack hopefully soon.

considering wiifree is on the 29th update and still beta...hardly a deal to keep flashing and reinstalling.

looks like a clone

wiikey is a good chip....but be aware alot of people saying this is a clone....and current price of $10.99 reflects that...do alot of research before impulse buying any of the current solutions, and i agree with staticvoid that right now is a good time to wait...a month from now things could be much different....most of these chips target those of us that need to be the 1st kid on the block

i just got my wii yesterday ~~
and i got paper mario, i'm just thinking how am i gonna make a copy of it, to keep the origrinal one not scratch up.....

so, at the end, does it worth it to get the chip ?
and how should i back up the DVDs ?

Be careful those of you with mod chips. When you download updates for the wii, it will shut down if it dtects a chip and make your wii useless for the most part. At least thats what I heard and seen from some research online.

That is how rumors get started. As long as you don't have a DC2 chip, it will work. Even with the 3.0 update. I would gather that soon they will even be able to work with the DC2 chip, it is just a matter of time.

Premods are going for $355. Down from $385.00. No, I don't have any.
