They are thinking my kitty has hyperthyroidism...running the bloodwork today. Pitiful...little heart racing....
Awww. We will be thinking and praying for you and your kitty :hugs:

Thank you guys....you know what's wierd, I could have sworn the vet said hypothyroidism, but she was talking about possibly giving her an injection tomorrow, depending on the bloodwork. I don't see any injectable treatments for hypothyroidism...I know there is an injectable thyroid hormone, levothyroxine, for humans, but I am not seeing it for pets...but I know the treatments cross over. I just thought I'd find info on the internet. I'll let you guys know. I'd rather hypo than hyper, based on what I am reading...hopefully I didn't misunderstand her. My beautiful black kitty - let me find a pic for those who care...hang on.

I don't know how to make her pic any bigger.

Sunbeam, I should have thought of that when I read your post! Our black lab had hyper/hypo (cannot remember prefix) thyroidism and his first symptom was a skin rash and hair loss. Vet was not alarmed and told us it is very common in cats and dogs and we put him oral meds every day and lived to be 14!! It seemed to manifest itself mostly with regard to skin issues~sometimes a rash in the very hot weather, etc.. but nothing horrible.

Give that little kitty a scratch for me!!

She luckily doesn't have rashes (yet). The vet said that her metabolic rate is increased...thus causing an increase in her heart rate and her anxiety, and she is looking for something to do - so she is pulling her hair out. I thought I could always get her to start cleaning my floors with her tongue if she is looking for something to do. Just looking for a little humor in all of this. I'm worried about her heart and other organs. I hope they are not damaged from all of this. She'll be 13 in September.

Well now you know what the problem is and you can fix it. I just hope for a speedy recovery!! :prey::hug:

I got picked to do jury duty.......again!! Yay!!!:rant:
They just love me over there.

I have yet to be asked for jury duty. It is something I would be honored to do as well.

Oh Spaz....you missed my sarcasm that time.

I think this would be the 5th time I was picked...maybe 6th. I was very excited to do the first one. The allure wears off after 4....lol.

They are punching your card right? So after the 10th time you get a free sandwich with a purchase of a drink?

My kitty's blookwork came back fine - nothing wrong with her thyroid! Yeah!! She will be getting a steroid shot tomorrow since the vet thinks it's stress or allergies. Now, I have to figure out what the possible cause was, so this doesn't happen in the future. Let's hope the shot works! :prey: I'm so happy! :loving:
