how is the speed on it?

It could only replace a wireless router if you connect wirelessly to a desktop computer. If your connecting to a laptop then it would be kinda pointless cuz it would now be wired.

As for speed I dunno I dont have this but I remember a sales guy explaining it long time ago when these first came out. Sounded like a good idea as long as you dont need to move around the house with the internet.

10 Mb/sec, wireless ethernet "cord"

This has a rated speed of 14 Mb/sec, but the interface ia 10 Mb/sec, so that is the actual throughput limit.

The way to think of this item is as a wireless Ethernet "extension cord" - the devices on either end need no configuration specific to these bridge devices...

Hope that helps.

Speed is good. I did a DSLreports.com test and it was almost as fast as from my home PC connected to my router directly. Just can't get it to work with my PS2.

I read a review that said its real throughput is about 3 - 4 megs and nowhere close to the advertised speed. But considering it is FAR, what the heck!

I thought the speed was very good. I didn't try copying a file, but all web pages I hit were lickity split

The things are still working well. I am waiting on the 6 rebates for this one. So far I have recieved all 6 emails confirming the rebates have been received and are being processed. Anyone else having luck/no luck with this? That was a crazy amount of rebates to have to submit, but it is a lot of money too.

Mine at www netgearrebates say they're valid and scheduled for final processing, and the one at web-rebates says it's still processing. I posted them on 14 Oct, so that's pretty quick validation for the first 2.

Also, back on 22 Sept. I had originally done the online reservation for in-store pickup and got the confirmation emails, yet when I got to the store later that day they were oos despite the reservation. The manager was cool about letting me pre-pay to meet the rebate deadlines and then pick up the next week after they'd restocked. So it never hurts to ask.
