Is it worth getting? not the 64bit, but longhorn in general? also will the 64bit run on a 32bit chip?

Microsoft faces Vista trademark challenge

A US software company is threatening legal action against Microsoft after the giant chose its company name as the title for its next version of Windows.

IMHO, it ll be the same, GUI ll be different and it ll force you to upgrade your hardware

Why did they give up using the year? That was neat cause you knew how old it was, e.g. W98, w2000 etc.

vista means view, right? so that makes sense giving "windows" that name. not that they couldn't have come up with something better...
and i don't know why they would have called it longhorn... well except for dehawk's idea- not necessarily in reference to bill gates, but just that it's sort of a masculine-sounding name...

so i still don't know... what is the final or beta release date to the open public?
