I don't like the "fixed" resolution with the LCDs. Video games and graphics also seem more vivid on a CRT. I think I'll wait - so far the strategy has payed off seeing the plummeting prices on LCDs.
Totally agree with you. Especially because for my eyesight 800x600 res works best.

LCD Positives:
less space; 50% less electric cost than current CRTs; light to move.
LCD Negatives:
fixed resolution (some can be changed but are terrible when changed); black not as dark; more problems with sun; limits on angles; AND dead pixel problems; price.

~5 years ago I purchased a 19" Viewsonic CRT that was great. They cost alot more back then & $450 was a great sale price. It died a year ago. Even here in Silicon Valley, nobody fixes them. Went shopping. Very small selection of 19" (or any ") CRTS (even Frys). Much cheaper now but much less quality. Went to many many stores to find something good. Alot of junk & had to threaten calls to corporate just to get them to hook up their display models. Finally found a gem for $145 (now Frys has for $199 but when on sale $99):
Hyundai Image Quest V995. Super monitor. Better than my old Viewsonic was.

Bought a second one for my son (in case I ever need another I'll take his & replace with whatever he wants).
