How to Look Rich Without Being Rich

wow...that's the most replies to a comment i've ever made. :)

About the shopes though, I know a gal that has over 80 pairs of shoes. And closets full of clothes she doesnt wear. Although I wouldn't mind my wife being naked and barefoot with chocolate everyonce in a while, like I said, it's important to keep your family in clothes and necessities, it's when the clothes and shoes turn into a financial burden that it needs to stop.

Or here's another thing that really bugs me. The people that live off welfare and hand outs from wherever they can get them, but they drive fancy trucks, have cable tv, 4-wheelers and camper trailers and all other kinds of expensive stuff that they spend money oninstead of food and housing and insurrance and other necesities. So i'll back off the shoes a bit, and just lump them in the category of unnecesary luxuries.

I can't wait to see what everyone says about this one.

Oh, and I like the long hair just because I think it's pretty...no other reason.

ohhhh, but even long hair needs a good trim/color every once in a while, dear wade...

or are you into the shaggy, grey witch thing?

Sorry Wade, we don't accept 'lump shoes' as 'unnecessary luxuries'. Leave the shoes alone if you know what's good for you......

You tell it brother!

What is irking me recently is the fact that people in government housing where all the utilities (gas included) are all paid for get their heat set at 68 degrees. Their landlords/rental managers can get fined if the heat drops below that. When you drive by, they all have their windows hanging open! WHAT A WASTE OF RESOURCES!!!!

Here we are in our house with our heat set around 65 during the day and about 60 overnight just trying to keep our gas bills at a reasonable level so we can pay for them!

:banghead:

Thank you. I just needed to vent. I think my blood pressure went up and warmed me through ;). I feel much better now!

Oh... and I totally agree... leave the shoes alone Wade :D.

i had no idea about this!! that is so wrong!!!
we're like you, tigger, with the heat up a little during the day when we have company and just so we don't have to wear coats indoors (we still wear socks and sweaters, though... and my bald hubby wears a cap!)... and overnight, we bundle up and turn the heat down.
i still don't want a handout though. i prefer to keep the govt out of my home as much as possible!

See...according to the last couple coments from tigger and clubchick...it is possible for me to make a valid point.

So instead of just going away happy with a win, i'm still gonna hit the shoes. Or at least ask a question. How many pairs of shoes do you all actually have?I personally have 7. 2 pair tennis shoes, 2 pair dress shoes, a pair of boots, 1 pair sandals, and 1 flip flops. I agree that I'm pretty spartan, in that category, even for a guy. It would seem to me that 40-50 pairs of shoes would be more than sufficient to cover any occasion. I might even be able to see 60 if you had a really big wardrobe, and were a very versatile person. Like I say, I had a friend that had 80 pairs in her closet, and her and i both agreed that was excessive.

So tell me how many shoes you all have and how you justify the need for them.

ah, a challenge.... i'm not lady godiva, but i'm not imelda marcos either :p

sooooooo... after doing a pretty thorough inventory:
i think i counted 30 pairs of shoes. that's definitely not 80.
but 4 of those pairs are running shoes- and those don't really count toward the total.
then i have 1 pair of tennis shoes just for normal tennis shoe wear.
i need my flip flops for summer- and i have 3 pair- pink, green, and brown. they are different levels of "dressiness" as well, so they serve a purpose.
i've got my loafers for when i need to look a little more reserved.. one brown pair and one black pair- that's not too much to ask.
i've got hiking boots for more casual days, but not tennis shoe occasions.. one black, one beige... again, that's not too much.
every girl needs a couple of dressy sandals for the summertime- weddings, or going to eat.. so i have one pink, one silver, one white, one black, one brown
dressy pointed toe pumps are a necessity, and i have one black pair, one pink pair, and a gold pair.
sometimes a round toe is more appropriate- it's a less sexy look, better suited for church... i have one pink, one white, and one black.
clogs were the thing a few years back, and i have one beige pair and one heather charcoal pair.
then i have boots for the winter. i have a pair of pointed toe knee boots that are black- a staple in a woman's wardrobe. i also have some rock-n-roll type boots with studs on em to wear out dancing. then i have the square toe black knee boots for less sexy occasions (christmas with the family), and my white square toe knee boots that todd wanted me to have cuz they look like go-go boots :p
beige shoe-boots go with just about everything i own.
and finish the list with 2 pairs of uggs- one short, one tall.
too much? i think not. just don't mention the subject to todd ;)

ummm... we aren't counting slippers too are we? cuz i have 5 pairs of those.. but i can explain... they were gifts... well 2 of em were LOL

oh and my new fetish? knee socks and legwarmers!! like the good ol' days :p with the dr. seuss stripes!!!! i got some great ones for christmas with the marabou at the top!!!! and some great light pink/dark pink striped ones!! but, don't worry-- they're only for trying to stay warm at home. i haven't gone emo on you all :p

hundreds :) No justification necessary. :)

Now leave the shoes alone, Wade, 'for lest thou be judged'.

I have 14 pairs of shoes (what can I say- I’m a late bloomer, 4 years in combat boots didn’t exactly inspire the shoe craze)

2 pairs of tennis shoes, 2 pairs of boots, 1 pair of flip flops & the rest are high heels, though I freely admit I need a few more pairs!
