Had anyone received any "adult" books, as opposed to "teen" books from this? Sounds very interesting. Thanks for the post.

Bartolec, the Jane Austen thing I'm receiving was from the regular HarperCollins First Look site, not HarperTeen.

(Be careful when you say "adult books," because that means something completely different to most people.) LOL

Great Post... my daughter and I are both avid readers.. :) Thanks

Thanks for the info Ellie! I agree that "adult" books mean something different to some people! That's why I mentioned "teen" books in the same sentence! I hope be chosen for this ... I really enjoy reading and sounds like a lot of fun.:pumpkin:

I wanted to prove to myself that they don't actually read what you put in the box explaining why you want to review a particular book. Last month I filled in every single box using only Lorem Ipsum text. (Basically nonsense that looks kinda like Latin.) And it looks like I'll be receiving two new teen books, "Otherspace" and "The Interns: Fashionistas."

So now we know without any shadow of a doubt that it makes no difference what you put on the form. :teeth:

Ellie - This is embarrassing, because I wrote sincere entries with real words for at least 5 of the books in the adult offerings that I would have loved to have read, and was declined for all of them!!!!

Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I know it isn't just Allure that doesn't want to give me freebies! LOL

I used to spend time writing sincere reasons, too. But then I read that it's a random drawing that determines who receives the books. So I thought I'd try nonsense and see what happens. Now we know. :teeth:

(I actually got the idea from a classmate in high school. She was convinced that one of her honors English instructors was not actually reading her essays, so she included three pages of nothing but swear words in the middle of her essay. When the teacher returned the essays, there was a big red "A" on the front page, and no mention of the swearing.)

Holy cow! I just logged into my HarperTeen account, and there are SIX books en route to me!
:woot:

I got six books last month, and I'll be getting six more books this month! My nieces and nephews think I'm the coolest aunt ever because I can get all these books before they're released. If you haven't signed up for this yet, I recommend registering for all the books they offer.

Congrats~that's awesome! You must be saying the right things, b/c they reject my entries every month!

Ellie, do you get chosen by random or do you think you are being chosen becuase you write an essay on why you want to review the books? Also are they all teen books that you receive?
