A general response to the mis-informed

...chiropractic has risks too such as chiropractic strokes. Anyway, this isn't the right place to advertise your services.

Yeah, the whole stroke fallacy is a popular misconception that uninformed people rattle about. A number of studies make it clear that there is no connection between chiropractic treatment and stroke risk.

As recently as February, a study in the journal Spine (which is not affiliated with chiropractic in the least, for those who don't know) found there is no evidence of excess risk of stroke following chiropractic spinal manipulation. In the study, researchers noted that patients are no more likely to suffer a stroke following chiropractic treatment than they would after visiting their family doctor's office. All research I have read states something along the same lines: any observed association between a vertebrobasilar artery (VBA) stroke and chiropractic manipulation is likely due to patients with a pre-existing and undiagnosed vertebral artery dissection seeking care for neck pain and headache before their stroke.

A link to that study is included here.

For a look at some other quoted research on headaches, cost-effectiveness, patient satisfaction, and comparison with other treatment alternatives, take a look at this site.

In response to your comment about advertising my services: I'm not looking to get any business out of this. I couldn't have thought less about that when I was writing that post. My goal is to open peoples' eyes to other options out there...people who are at their wit's end because of pain and no where to turn. I'm not trying to sell anything to these people. There's nothing in it for me, other than the hope that someone was helped. And to those that say I'm tooting, or blowing, my horn: frankly I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm not taking credit for any results I mentioned, and I'm certainly not promising every single person that walks into a chiropractor's office will experience relief.

I think you attackers need to chill out a little and let people hear about other options; no one is forcing anyone to do anything...if they don't like what they see, then they won't try it. No harm done, but nothing gained, either.

So, I have provided my research and support for my statements...groove1, let's see some peer-reviewed research supporting yours - I'm at a loss to find any.

Some people will never get it, Proboscis. Thanks for trying though. ;)

Love the BB on the site! No tag, no park! 2-minute rule is lazy BS!

Sorry if I misunderstood your intentions from the first post you made. I just felt like I was reading a paid advertisement and had to make sure I was still on Spoofee! I think everyone has a lot of personal experiences here, and we are all going to share them. Sharing opinions is fine, but backlash is always a risk on a public forum...which I accept fully myself. There is never going to be unanimous agreement on a viewpoint. But, back to the point of this post which I believe was whether people want to report illegal handicap space parking...I think that was the post...let me go back and double check.

Yeah, I ditto that sentiment. There will never be a situation where everyone agrees on something, and that's fine. It keeps life interesting. And I don't take personal any individual's bad experiences with chiropractors...there are good ones and bad ones just like everything else. I'm sorry, too, if I digressed too far out of the scope of this topic - that wasn't my intension, so apologize to those who are a little annoyed that I took the ball and ran with it :teeth:

Le Mall

!!!

My partner parks in the handicapped spot at Mall of America - the Mall is gigantic and yup he does walk around it - but we have plenty of rest stops along the way - he gets out of breath and uses a stick when walking - and we have meal breaks - without the parking spot close to the door he could not even do that much as the parking spots further away would make it impossible for him to go the Mall...

It is easy to be judgmental about people when you are not in that situation but believe me he would prefer to be well, park further away, not be out of breath, not use a stick, and not have to do rest stops every so often -

I know when we were on vacation we all took one vehicle, which was my father's suburban & he has a handicap mirror tag. I borrowed his car & didn't use the tag. But when I came back to the condo parking lot, I parked in a handicap spot (return the car to the spot that I found it in) and put the tag up. Some people started yelling at me b/c I parked in a HC spot & obviously didn't need it. I explained to them that i was parking it in the spot for my father who needed it. I don't think they believed me. Oh well! It was legit!

i have to join this dicussion, i remember going to the post office with my father and this jackass yelling at him about not "looking" handicapped, and he would not let up, he did not care that my dad had arthritis so bad that some days he could not walk at all. dont be judgemental of people if they have a tag , they need it, dr.s will not fill out the forms if they dont feel they are needed. I do have a gripe however-Nurses that use up all the handicapped parking at the frount door of the hospital, if you can go to work and walk the floors all day, then i see that youve parked in the handicapped parking,i get really angry, ive had pt.s tell me that there wife couldnt come to visit them cause they cant walk far and all the handi-parking was taken,....shame on you.

OK my pet peeve over the hp is when someone will park in between spots of the hp spot. Basically adding in a spot between 2 hp spots. I have a wheel chair to get outand inti the van and my daughter and when I have to squeeze my body between cars it really ticks me off. I have been known to accidently bump the other car hog with the wheelchair at times. I never use the card when I do not have my daughter with me but I will take Megan with me during the holidays to go shopping just for the close parking lol!

I have spinal bifida very bad along with other physical problems, I use my hp to park closer the days I need to but most the time people without hp are using them and it is not fair for us who are disabled and like others said need to get in and out of a wheel chair. I can walk a few steps without falling but to make it so we cant leave our car b/c either you park too close to a handicapped spot or make it so those who need them aren't able to the spots when needed is just wrong, even if it is just for 2 minutes, how would you like it if we made you wait that long or longer for a parking spot you really wanted.
