isn't the netflix deal just for 2 weeks, not one month?

Originally, when first posted it was a one month trial. ;)

Sometimes you need a code to make these things one month, instead of 2 weeks.

Netflix Lowers Monthly Rental Price by $4 in Price War With Video Rental Giant Blockb

LOS GATOS, Calif. (AP) -- Online movie rental service Netflix Inc. reported Monday that it lowered its monthly rental fee by $4 in what is heating up to be a price war with video rental giant Blockbuster Inc.

As expected, the company said it was lowering subscription rates to $17.99 per month from its former price of $21.99 per month. Blockbuster slashed the price of its online DVD delivery service Oct. 25 to $17.49 per month from $19.99 in response to Netflix' announcement two weeks ago.

Netflix' price reduction does not change the service of being able to rent as many DVDs as long as one wants with a limit of three movies out at one time. Blockbuster offers a similar service.

For the same service, retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc. now has the highest three-title subscription price of $18.76 per month, but also offers a two-title subscription of $15.54 per month.

Online retailer Amazon.com is also rumored to be starting up its own online DVD rental delivery service in the next six months.

Blockbusteronline service is terrible!! I did the free trial and it took a week and half to get my movies. in addition i cancelled early so they would stop sending me movies but they didn't. I PROMPTLY returned the movies I recieved. Incidently my membership was over on 10/22/04. Then I recieve three email notices this morning that they haven't received the movies I rented and I am now charged 21.54 for each movie. Then once they are received I am refunded but charged 2.99 restocking per movie. VERY SAD SERVICE INDEED SINCE THE MOVIES THEY SPEAK WERE THE FIRST I RECEIVED AND RETURNED. I am now having to dispute all six charges with blockbuster. Free trial seekers beware. Blockbuster may great with brick and mortar stores but their online service sucks! Stick with Netflix or Walmart.

The same thing happened to me. This place is no good at all. My movies would never ship properly. I would call and complain and then the would send out duplicates, then I received doubles of the same movie. In the month I was with them I recieved 6 movies. Trying to get ahold of CS is also a joke you get a recording telling you there is high call volume, at all times of the day.

Stay away from this place. :hmm:

Yep, they stink. I'm on the free Shrek plan right now and have only received one batch of movies in over a week. With Netflix I would've been on round three by now.

Update:

was on hold with blockbusteronline customer service for 23 minutes before I got to speak with anyone. Once I did though the rep credited my credit card for the full amounts for all three movies. Credits do take 2 to 8 business days though so we shall see....we shall see.

I still would not recommend blockbusteronline to anyone who cares about good service.

"in addition i cancelled early so they would stop sending me movies but they didn't."

They don't according to their site. Same with other sites. You keep getting dvds as long as you have them in your que through your trial or paid period. Even if you cancel. Try reading the faqs there, it clearly states as such.

thanks for the advice about reading the faqs. but that still doesn't remedy the situation of being charged for movies that were returned well within the time period alotted. my complaint is about being charged for something that they obviously are not tracking correctly and what should have been a free trial. as i previously stated, the movies i am being charged for were the movies i rented first and returned the next day.

"VERY SAD SERVICE INDEED SINCE THE MOVIES THEY SPEAK WERE THE FIRST I RECEIVED AND RETURNED."

It is nearing a month since i sent those movies back...and NOW i am being charged. the fact that they kept sending me movies is such a small detail compared to the fact that I am being charged and having to dispute $64.62 for three movies that were promptly sent back....might I add that those same movies showed up received by blockbuster in my queue and then they sent new ones. The charges are obviously unfounded and baseless.

Regardless, my post was meant to assist others in avoiding the same experience with blockbusteronline. The online service is terrible right down to the 23 minute wait to speak with a customer service rep.

A free trial is enticing but may not be worth the frustration for a lot of people. :banghead:

On a side note:
I never had this much trouble during my free trial or my regular membership with netflix. :)

I wonder what walmart's service is like? :hmm:

I have tryed walmart, netflix and blockbuster. Best one no doubt: Netflix, even better now, with the new lower monthly fee. blockbuster took an average of 10 days for me to get new movies. Walmart had an average of 12 days. Netflix 3 days.

"my complaint is about being charged for something that they obviously are not tracking correctly and what should have been a free trial."

You're more clear about it. Yes, other people went through that too on another forum, I guess you have to give them a call about it.
