(Expired) Restaurant.com - 70% Off Coupon

no luck

Unfortunately they aren't there.

Haven't heard back from restaurants.com either. I'm getting the feeling tht I may not hear back from them until after the holidays. We'll see.

I am thinking I had to contact them before, maybe to recommend some restaurants, and they took 2 days to respond.

One slight word of caution...

Hi all,
I had a funky experience with restaurant.com I thought I'd share. (And I am a user and supporter so I am not slamming them).
There is a local Atlanta sub shop that went out of business about 6 months ago or so. They have been listed on thie site so I sent an email 3 weeks ago..
Yesterday I was looking through the site because of the 70% off sale and there was this same sub shop! So I called, left a message on the voice mail and DID hear back the same day.
She apologized and said shed look into it..That was Friday. It's Sunday and it's still there but shows sold out.
I sure do hope they didn't sell all those knowingly since I advised of this weeks ago!

So do your due diligence b4 buying. Call the restaurant. Even if you get voice mail you'd know they are still in business.

Also, use these up quickly. I bought several a year ago...Never used them...lost them etc.
This is only a good deal if you USE them!
Happy New Year.

I agree with Doug. That is why I have only bought one of these as a gift during this sale. I still have a few to use.

In northern NJ - restriction for $25 cert is min $35 food purchase. So total outlay for $35 of food is $13, still can't beat that. Thanks!

I had a similar experience as Spoofeereader.

I bought one & used it that night (12/26)... perfect experience. So I bought another to use next month (still in my account unused). I bought a third 2 days later - but this time it was a gift certificate. They took my money (paypal) but it is not anywhere to be found in my account. I emailed them but have not heard back (It hasn't quite been 24 hours yet). I figure this will get worked out... but I hate that I have to "deal" with this when it should have been an easy transaction! Just thought I would put my 2 cents in :)

Happy New Year.

I've had a couple places go out of business before I used the certs. In two cases, Restaurant.com informed me and once I informed them. Actually, in that 3rd case the restaurant was closing in 3 days because the owner was going to Iraq but we decided we didn't want to eat there. In all three cases, restaurant.com gave me replacement certificates.

I have gotten dozens of certs from these guys and never had a problem. I just got $165 of them today. Excellent deal.

Stop using PayPal. I hate those d*cks.

I had a bad experience with restaurant.com. I bought $80 worth of certs and then the restaurant closed within a couple of months. Never got to use them. :/

Let them know, they will replace them.

I agree. Restaurant.com goes out of their way to take care of you.

restaurant.com problem resolution

I called restaurant.com today (1/2) as I hadn't heard from them. The customer service employee was friendly and helpful. He said they were having problems with paypal transactions, and they would have to manually credit my account. He credited my account and told me it may take about an hour to show.

An hour later, I discovered my account was over credited by a large amount. I wrote back and apparently there was a miscommunication over the phone over the internal paypal transaction details I provided. He then fixed my account.

Several thoughts:
- I had to call them. They never responded to my email.

- If restaurants.com knew there is a paypal problem, they should either a) take down the paypal option until its fixed, or b) track paypal transactions and proactively credit accounts shortly afterwards. This should be noted on a web page (aka "You account would be credited shortly").

- The over credit flaw is a little disconcerting. How lax are their security procedures? One of the reasons I chose paypal was cause I wasn't sure about handing over credit card details to a small online operation.

All that being said, I will probably use them again in the future. My problems were fixed.

I need to look into one of those credit cards that give you temporary credit card numbers for online transactions.

John
