Just wondering, how big is the "short stack" of pancakes? :hmm:
I believe a short stack is 2 or 3. I think they are the same ones you would get when you order one of the omletts...

Not really a freebie, folks--this is a Charity Event

Just so all of you know, this isn't really a freebie giveaway that IHOP is doing. IHOP is calling this event "National Pancake Day" and it is to benefit First Book, a charity that IHOP Supports as well as other charities selected by local IHOPs. IHOP encourages that you donate the amount you would have spent on those pancakes to the charity instead. (I'm assuming there will be a way to do this in each IHOP--I don't know for sure.) IMHO, it would be pretty rude to just walk in, get your pancakes, and not pay for them--this event is designed to raise money for books for low-income children.

Here's the info:

On Tuesday, February 28, 2006, over 800 IHOPs around the country* will be teaming up with First Book to celebrate National Pancake Day – a day that promises to be both filling and fulfilling!

IHOP has designated First book as its principal charity of choice. Participating IHOPs will be giving away free short stacks of pancakes and encouraging guests to donate what they would have spent to First Book. These contributions will support local literacy programs that serve low-income children.

How You Can Help

1. Stop by an IHOP on February 28th! Enjoy some delicious pancakes and make a donation to First Book.
2. Spread the word! Invite your family, friends and colleagues to join in the celebration – and show their support for First Book.
3. Volunteer to help First Book tell its story! Restaurant guests will be more likely to donate if they can meet and speak with someone about First Book. We will be mobilizing our own network of volunteers to spend some time at an IHOP that morning, but we could use more help. We'd like to have people present at as many IHOP locations as possible. An hour or two of your time on the 28th will make a huge difference in the amount of new books we are able to generate. We will provide you with talking points and other First Book materials. If you can spare a little time that morning, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].

*(IHOP restaurants in Maryland, Vermont, Florida, Arkansas, Arizona, New Mexico, North Dakota, DC, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, as well as most of Virginia and most of Texas will be supporting other local charities instead.)

Here's the link where that announcement came from

Thankfully, no cuz Waffle House sux. This is a common occurence at Waffle Houses near me:

From www.wcnc.com eat drink and be weary:

Bottom Scores
Graduate Food & Pub 2014 Sharon Forest Dr. 81.5 percent Inspected Feb. 9
Waffle House #1675 6637 E. Independence Blvd. 81.5 percent Inspected Feb. 9
Murphy's Tavern II 4630 Old Pineville Road. 83. percent Inspected Feb. 13

Good is 90-95, very good is 95-99, perfect is 100 or above (potential 102 top score with 2 point Servsafe certification bonus).

This website brought up 11 scores below 90, and that is just in Mecklenburg County going back to December 2002. I love the Original Pancake House over Ihop or Waffle House. Unlike these other chains, everything at OPH is fresh.

Anyway, "free" pancakes for charity is good.

I just got to work and I read this NOW!?!?! Why not post it yesterday in advance of today's promo? What a waste.

This freebie has been posted for over a month now here at the top of the forum.

It's been a stticky at the top of the page for a few weeks, including yesterday!

lol i work 630am-3pm

IHOP must seriously hate me ;)

Just got back from having a pancake lunch. They were very nice about it. We ordered one small breakfast plate just so it wouldn't look bad (but we all had waters for drinks). Bill came out to be just over 7 bucks for 4 short stack pancakes and 1 breakfast meal. Yum.

I missed out, had to work, bah. Their all-you-can-eat pancake deal is much better anyway.

That was good!

Took my daughter there (she's only 2 years old) and ordered the free shortstacks. The waitress looked at my little girl and said, "ok, so one order of shortstacks?" and I said... "uh, no two shortstacks and pointed at myself and my daughter" The waitress just gave a condescendng smile and said "ok". :o

Hey, in my defense, my daughter actually ate one entire pancake! heheee! and of course I had to help her finish the rest!!! ;)

actually... when the waitress saw how much my girl was able to eat by herself, she changed her tone (either that or she was working towards her tip)

-----> Another nice part of this deal is that they have a tent setup outside and you can just skip the restaurant altogether and they'll cook your pancakes to go right there in the tent! Very nice!!! :claps:

I saw a tv ad for this. Too bad I was swamp with work and missed out.

I love their strawberry syrup on my pancakes, so yummy. Can't belive I missed out =(

Damn it.. I missed this.. All I got today was free sandwichs, pizza, soda and Microsoft Office 2003 from Microsoft...

We have no IHOP's anywhere near us. :( So I could not go.
