(Expired) Free Pair of Gardening Gloves

Hey, think about how ethical it is to try and grab some free pair of cheazy gardening gloves from a NON PROFIT ORGANIZATIOn, just because they are free. They are doing this to encourage giving, not to spend a fortune on thousands of gloves mailed to Spoofee readers. C'mon, this feels as low as you can go.

If you read the "In your community" section it says for any state. I think they are trying to encourage cleanup and if free gloves do this (since most things you do with gloves is plant or clean) Great! I think the same for a bike bottle to encourage recycling. I do see the point you are trying to make but this is not like getting free blood glucose monitors if your not diabetic.

I conquer! I think this is a wonderful idea. I right now am on short term disability can't even go outside but hubby needed a new pair of gloves and w/out ANY income right now this was a blessing! Like you said it's not like getting a free blood glucose meter if you're not diabetic (unless you know someone who is that you've actually gotten it for and given it to for free).

I received this email today...

"Thank you for recently signing up online to become a Chesapeake Bay Foundation Gardener for the Bay! We appreciate your interest in our Gardener’s program and for your commitment to restoring the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

We recently encountered a very unusual circumstance, however, that will delay the receipt of your membership materials. Beginning on May 28th, more than 30 “freebie” websites posted links to our pledge form, informing their readers of the “free” gardening gloves offered to members. This has resulted in more than 8,000 new members to our pledge programs! Typically we receive about 1,000 new pledge members a year. While we enthusiastically welcome all of our new members, the overwhelming response has quickly depleted our inventory of gloves, decals, and pledge cards. It will take several weeks for us to replenish our inventory and mail the thousands of remaining membership kits.

In the meantime, you will continue to receive our monthly e-newsletter and action alerts about important Bay issues. I encourage you to take advantage of the resources on our website at cbf.org/landscaping for tips and ideas for Bay-friendly gardening.

I sincerely apologize for the delay in sending your materials. Thank you for your understanding and your support.

Sincerely,

Heather Tuckfield
Volunteer Program Manager
