eMachines 330 Desktop with 17" CRT & Inkjet Printer for $229.97 After Rebates

In the past 18 months I purchased two of the E-Machines packages with the AMD xp processors and have gotten all the rebates within 6 weeks (12 and 18 month same as cash from circuit city and best buy). So far they have been extremely dependable, nothing replaced and no calls to support. They came with a minimum of trash loaded on them so they run pretty fast. Have upgraded one with a radeon AIW 9600 and use it to record the nightly news. Of course this celeron is not for hard core gamers but will surf the internet, play music and DVD's and most of the every day stuff. These were on sale at Thanksgiving for $199 at Best buy, people were lined up around the inside wall with them.

The rebates will work despite in store pick up since you don't really get a reciept in store (just the same kind you would online just that it says in store pick up)

As Jim said it doesn't come with as much crap as the Compaqs and HP's do so it does run pretty quick (for the price and Processor consideration)...

In store pick up was easy and the rebates all will work. Computer is definitely worth the price and well the Lexmark printer is a little less worth it but will be sold on campus soon :) In any case great deal again, thanks SPOOFEE!

This eMachine is hideously slow!

I recently purchased this PC and set it up @ home. I know you get what u pay for but this eMachine blows. I even upgraded to the T3828 (2.8gz processor). But the T3828 eMachine is really, really slow. The following are a list of some of my concerns.

o Has anyone done any hard drive benchmark testing on it? Fresh Diagnose showed the HDD read speed to be 5mb/sec!! I have a machine that is 3 years older and it reads at 20mb/sec. What is the problem?!?

o Another problem (from a quality perspective) is that 5 of 6 CD-R's, that eMachine provided to create the Recovery CD, failed due to disk sector errors. (yes they were too lazy to create custom recovery CD's for new PC's and u have to do it now :'(. I switched to KyperMedia and the last 3 CD burn w/o a problem.

o Just from a clarification standpoint there isn't a floppy drive in the PC and the combo drive is only a CD/RW DVD ROM. Not a DVD writer like is listed in previous posts.

o A final issue is that the 256mb DDR RAM included in the PC is not the correct version. eMachines included a Samsung PC3200 stick into a PC that only will run @ 333mz (that's PC2700). While this does not cause a problem and I guess it's better to have faster memory...it might lead people to think that they need to purchase the more expensive PC3200 type when upgrading.

I have 2 other eMachines and have been happy for the most part with their quality and especially given their lower cost. I guess the 3rd time in NOT always a charm.

Sorry to be so whiny on my 1st post but I expect a new PC to perform better then this. I don't know if the deal is even valid any longer but writing this makes me feel better.

dude you are correct in everything you have said but you can't expect a dual XEON processor with raid hard drives and high speed dual layer dvd writing for 209.00 from emachines...

Getting A Little Frustrated With Best Buy

WELL I BOUGHT ONE I THOUGHT ONLY TO FIND OUT OUT OF STOCK. SO I ORDERED THE NEXT ONE WITH STORE PICK UP. TOOK ALL MY CREDIT INFO WAITED FOR MY EMAIL CONFIRMATION . GOT IT SHOWING 688.97 ON MY RECEIPT ORDERED ON THE 26TH. GOT HOME FROM WORK CHECKED FOR MY PICK UP ORDER SHEET NOTHING. CALLED THEM. FOUND OUT FROM THEM THAT THERE WAS A ONE CENT, YES ONE CENT DIFFERENCE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CHARGE ME 688.98 SO SALE WAS DENIED. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER DAY TO SEE IF ANY ARE LEFT. I'M QUITE TICKED AT BESTBUY RIGHT NOW, I MEAN ONE CENT ERROR ON THEIR HALF. APPARANTELY ONE CENT MEANS MORE TO THEM THEN 688.97. I WROTE A LETTER TO THEM COMPLAINING. :thumbs_do :banghead: :cussing:
