Got in on the 1pm one at approx 1:00:03/04. :)
 
man this is stressing me, i just notices the computer clock timer was off by 3 seconds that could cost me some goodies :verysad::(
 
I don't even have a clue to what the seconds are on my computer. I'm just trying the ones I can. The seconds timer would make me a nervous wreck...
 
:( I wish I knew what clock they were going by. My laptop had been synced w/"windows" but the gov website:
http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Eastern/d/-5/java
was about 12 seconds faster than that. I just updated my clock to match that.

Damn that sux -- I wonder if that's gonna cost me a bunch of freebies entered up until now (both here and from the Elle contest!).

*sigh* I REALLY wish Allure would CHANGE their submission page or give some kind of notice that the new hourly contest had started. :( So far I've entered all 3 today and the first 500 ones I'm not too worried about, but that first 50, those 12 seconds could have cost me. Boo.
 
If anyone has the time and patience would someone try some for me. I have to work wed-fri. I can get 3pm and on on wed, and the first 2 on thurs. i know it's a lot to fill out and I don't expect to get all, but if you want to. pm me. thanks
 
What the...? The first time I tried to enter the Pediegg one it gave me this message.

Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
 
well, apparently it's not exactly in sync w/the gov time -- i just submitted for the 3:00 one 2 seconds after 3 by gov time and I got an error msg that they were filled to capacity. The other ppl I entered went thru fine, so I went back and re-entered that 1st one w/no issues.

:rofl: Capacity problems = 5,000 trying to fit into a spot for 500!

I got the same message. Resubmitted and it went thru fine (so did the one I submitted immediately after I submitted the one that got that error). I think it was just too quick? I dunno, just my guess.
 
No one knows about the timing on these things. I had no trouble at 3 except that after I hit submit, it took about 10 seconds to get the "Thank you" page. Is that normal? Then I entered my friend. That entry went thru much faster. Don't know if it's my computer, AOL, or just Allure's servers--and I probably never will know. I expect to win very little as there are just so many people into this, but if I can get a better shot, I'd like to know how. My husband has told me to use IE instead of AOL for these things, but I don't listen to him. LOL

there has been a delay every single time i've hit enter before the confirmation page. i have a top of the line imac at work so i don't think it's your computer- it's their server handling everyone at the exact same moment. don't they say something bad will happen if you flush a row of toilets all at once? of did i just see that in a movie... :rofl:

this is coming down to strategy...this last one i hit at :57 and it didn't go through till :14...BUT if you go too soon it will go straight through b/c you were too early.

still keeping my spreadsheet of the exact times....well see...in Oct? heh.
 
Thank you for your reply. Re the toilet-flushing thing, that is not an urban myth--it really happened during a Super Bowl one time in some city in the Midwest (I think). Water pressure actually dropped or something. Ok, well maybe I shouldn't wait until two or three seconds after the hour then. The time will count as the time the confirmation page comes up, and since it takes so long, I could hit "submit" a few seconds before the hour.

Last year, a few of the prizes did show up after a few months (not sure if it was as early as Oct), but many more were MIA until after I got the winners' list...in March, 2008! We'll see how it goes this year. If you're interested, you can look for the thread from last August to see what happened.
 
Whew, that was a busy day - entered all but the 1pm and the 5pm. Hope lots of us are winners this year!

Ditto! Signed my SIL & I up for all 6. I'm not gonna be too sad if I don't get any of these tho -- I much prefer the offerings on other days. :)

Is there a particular item(s) you're wanting to get? Since I'm entering myself & my SIL already, your best bet are any of the first 500 ones (I really have no idea how quickly these go but I enter w/in the first 30 seconds of the hour mark, so hopefully we'll get at least SOME of them...)

Anyway, PM me which ones you want. I already have some of your info -- just need your hair color, skin tone, and... I think that's it.


(P.S. I'm really excited for the perfume giveaway on Wednesday. I loooove perfumes.)
