Cendyne DVD-R/RW Drive deal gone...

Zabs,

I think you're fine. There is no bottom to the box and the only barcode that could pass for a UPC is the "Part#" on the label pasted on the back of the box next to the Serial No. Those 2 are the only bar codes anywhere on the box. I bought one myself on the 30th. Cendyne packages so many different mfrs drives I'm sure its cheaper to stick labels on similar boxes than print boxes w/ the codes on them.

Thanks for the heads up. I just called there help line for rebates and they had an automated message (apparently I was not the only one confused by this) stating that UPC is a 12 digit code, with ten digis being under the bar code and 1 digit on either side of the bar code. I do have that (and the other serial bar code) so I should be OK.

Hmmm . . . if I'm providing bad info, I apologize. I don't have this particular drive, but am just going off what every other Cendyne drive I've bought has. As an example, see:

http://schikora.indstate.edu/images/barcodes.gif

There are three barcodes, with the one in the middle being the UPC. Same type of code that you'll find on most any retail product. If you've got that, you're fine.

Comprx,
I was just backing up your statement. The serial number (with its bar code) and the upc code are both together on the back of the box right accross from each other at the bottom of the spec sheet that is stuck on the box (at least on the one I bought they are.)

I don't have 3 barcodes, but I do have the serial number and the upc bar that they want, so I think I'm set.

is it just me or will this deal not work...

1. when does the coupon discount come up?

2. isn't the instant rebate in store only? store doesnt accept internet coupon...

The deal starts tomorrow.

Last time this deal was going (which is when this thread started) OfficeMax pulled the drive from their web store and made it an in store only deal.

A similar deal is available at Staples. They have the 4x version of the drive, here's the deal:

Cendyne 4X Internal DVD-R/RW drive (98%, maybe even 100% of these drives are OEM Pioneer) - Regular price $249.94 - $50 coupon - $50 rebate = $149.94 shipped free (+ tax)

Go to Staples.com, search for item 499683. Add it to your cart. View your cart, click add coupons. Enter coupon code 79169 for $50 off $200 or more. Checkout. Expected delivery time for me is 2 business days.

If you are interested in this one, jump on it quick because they'll probably sell out locally.

Enjoy!

One time I used two small coupon codes, the order accepted the codes just fine, but when I got the stuff, they didn't include the coupons. This is common for them-cancelling coupons. They do try to call you first.

Prices updated finally . . .

If you tried to order earlier today and the prices were not adjusted for the sale, try again. I just ordered the DVD-RW, Polaroid CDRW, and CD-Rs, all at the correct prices. An hour earlier, the two drives were listed at their normal price.

Good luck!!

Thanks Grinderman!

Thanks Grinderman.

Tried the Staple's deal online but 4X burner was out of stock, so went to Staple's and they had 3, but had forgotten online coupon codes. Went to library to use Internet, (I live 30 miles from nearest Staples) but it was closed. So stopped at radio shack and talked them into letting me have Internet access for five minutes. Jotted down code you gave for $50 off 200 and one for $30 from the link you supplied in case it didn't work.

When I got back to Staples, manager told cashier I'm supposed to have hard copy of promotion, but told cashier to enter code and I could have it if it worked. It worked and while I was reading from paper I wrote code on, cashier asked me if I wanted to try the other code too. Why not? It worked too.

So I got $80 off 249.95 -the $50 mail-in rebate. I got it for 169.95 + 12.75tax -$50 mail-in rebate. What's that come to???? $132.7 This could become an addiction.

Got the Cendyne DVD-RW on Monday from the OfficeMax warehouse! $139.00 plus tax, thank you Spoofee!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got mine today (took a few days to get it), but well worth it, received the GOLD unit (Pioneer DVR-105) for $140 (+ tax) AR. What a deal! Just visited Fry's, they're selling it for at least $320!

Same here. Got the drive yesterday and it's a 4X DVR-105, same as I got from Staples. Also picked up the $20 AR Polaroid 48X CDRW and free spindle of CDRs. Another sweet Spoofee deal!! :thumb:

did the same as well. $149 after tax for the 4x pioneer...thanks again!
