Original Message :
I went to check officemax.com and searched for the item number.... but it is gone

So I searched for Cendyne... and the 269 still did not come up, but a 300 dollar one did... So what's up with the deal?

I dont know, maybe they didn't update it yet as the sale starts today.

Something is strange. If you search for 20182491 on google it comes up as a 48 X 12 X 48 cendyne cdr/rw drive from officemax. I think that was a previous deal back on 11/20/02.
The discuss this deal link on today's deal also points to the discusion thread for that 11/20/02 deal.

how much is media for these dvd-r/rw's?

wondering if it's worth me getting one yet

I was also wondering what happened to the 50$ off 250$ coupon? Seems OfficeMax is no longer taking it. If you try to use it you are redirected to the 40 off of 200.....bummer.

kyoo:

Here is the best site I have found for DVD-R and DVD-RW media. No coupons or rebates etc, but some pretty good prices:

http://www.yesbuy.net/dvdr1.html

I plan to order up a 100 pack of rw media as soon as I get my burner.

so, we're looking at a $210.00 DVD-R/RW from officemax..

Take $40 off $200 online coupon
search for sku 20146496 (DVD-R/RW for $299.99)
minus $50 MIR
= $210

bleh.. still not worth it to me.

See, there is supposed to also be an instant 50$ off which would bring it down to the 160$ area, but I can't seem to get that to come off.

can you burn a dvd from a vhs tape using this? would you need some sort of special video card?

You would need a capture card of some sort. I like the ATI "All in Wonder" series myself, but then I have not had much expirience with anything else.

You would capture the A/V output from your VCR into mpg format on your computer then convert the mpg file to dvd standard format and author the dvd with whatever software you have on hand. Keep in mind capturing can require alot of horsepower from your computer depending on how much the capture card does itself vs. how much it makes your cpu do. (I think I needed something around 1Ghz to get an svcd quality capture.)

They are on ebay.com for $207 buyitnow, sans barcode. Seems about right to me too as you never know if that cendyne rebate is going to come in.

in theory: price $220 plus tax about $17=
$237- 50 rebate= about $187

so youre just paying about $20 more if you get it on ebay now plus shipping....seems reasonable to me

The codes listed in the paper were 20146496/20216641. This is the message I got when I tried to put it in the cart:

"Product 20146496 available in retail stores only. Visit our Store Locator."

Looks like they're jamming the online shoppers, eh?

This has become the order of the day at OM. All the products that have good deals would suddenly disappear from the website and can only be obtained from instores. It happened in the Palm M130 deal also.

fyi, i got my GOLD burner tonight and used the $20 off $50 office depot coupon

i got it for 149 ar
:)

Allen, how did you order this? The item is no longer even appearing on the website?

If you did use the website, please fill us in on what you did / how you did it?

I have been itching for a DVD-R/RW drive for months, and 149 or lower is my buy-in price. I was really excited when I saw this deal, but it seems that officed max has boofed the deal.

u gotta go to the store... make sure you call ahead to make sure they have the gold not the blue... first store i went to only had blue

i used a $20 off $50 from office depot to save another 20 bux!

Blue? Isn't that the one people are prefering these days as the other, A05 has media issues & needs a firmware update?

2x is fine right now as 4x disks are sort of very expensive still. But alot of people are hoping for the new 4x firmware to handle media issues.

Well, here is the media isssue topic, one of many websites:

Now I feel really stupid, but here goes:

How do you tell the difference between the blue and gold models?
