gronghi is right on target...all else is false thinking.
gronghi, I agree with your pursuit of the allowed, approved, and sanctioned jump drive deal. I dont agree that following up on a standard price matching policy is anything but fair but I do agree that the ignorance and the dim wits of the retail clerks requires explanation and convincing-frankly, if they dont like my legitimate approach, I could care less and I dont need their affections to stroke my ego because I am not insecure. They probably wont even last long enough to be there if/when I return for the next Spoofee identified deal, so Ill probably never even see them again--besides, In America, the customer is King and they better worry more about displeasing me then I should ever worry about displeasing them. To me, the deal is worth saving the extra few dollars...I'd even get that deal if I saved 50 cents. Maybe if some folks did a time value of money calc on what the extra few dollars would really cost them over the next two decades if invested wisely, they would drop their load and run to Staples to save the extra dollars. Its amazing also to me how many times Ive asked for the legitimate discount and they said "yes". Keep up the good work gronghi and maybe a few folks will learn from your creative example--and if they dont, then folks like you and I will go buy their share!
