LOL Bird. That is the quickest way to make money for sure. I'm feeling pretty good. My wife was still a little sore, but we are both glad to be ok. Now if I could just get the adjuster to call me back...

It is true. To live like we imagine millionaires living, I've heard you need 5 million. I don't want to slowly accumulate wealth though. A million dollars will be worth far less by the time I retire.

I've decided that what I really want isn't the money. It's the freedom of having the money so I could live where I wanted and spend more time with the people I care about. As a result, I'm setting my goal at quitting my desk job in 2 years and having a completely mobile online business so I can live overseas for 6 months at a time.

Ready, set, go...

So a little over two years has gone by since my post. I quit the job I had a little over a year later for a better desk job. It looks like I will have effectively tripled my income when I include bonuses. My wife was able to quit her day job and has been going to school for the past year. She will be a stay at home mom when the baby arrives.

The additional income has allowed me a little more freedom to work on a new business idea. I picked a business name, registered a domain by the same name, created my business in Texas, got a Sales Tax Permit, opened a business checking account, and just sent in my account paperwork to the company that would be my main supplier if they accept my application. Crossing my fingers they will give me a line of credit too, but if not, there are other ways I can make up for it.

If all goes well, I should be able to start canvasing for sales soon and see how well my idea works.

Maybe in a couple years I can triple my income again.

That is completely awesome! Hard work and persistence pay off.

Good Luck servant... of course some naysayers with call you a Capitalist pig who's trying to suck the little man dry. At least that's the impression that my husband & I have received in the past. We've owned our business since 1999. It's a lot of hard work, but it's definitely worth it. :yesnod:

My Best Tips...
1. Do what you love & you'll love what you do
2. Don't let anyone discourage your endeavor
3. Don't overextend yourself or your business financially

I've heard this saying multiple times: "Work to live, and not Live just to work"

Again, Good Luck to you servant! :thumb:

Adding to Purringlady's advice: if you don't own your business but it owns you then you are doing it wrong. When you start neglecting your family, spirit, personal life, or other important personal obligations then the business owns you.

We lived that way for a lot of years and that is why we moved recently. Now we actually are in control again and it is so much nicer.

Huh? The way I heard it was that you got run out of town...something to do with a chicken, a stick of dynamite and some sort of witch doctor dance.

This is new.

Whoa there. Everything would have been all right if they didn't critique the way I was dancing.

I had only heard the part involving the chicken.

I think I might post these on my wall. Thanks so much for sharing these. And thank you Spaz as well. I appreciate the advice.

As far as the capitalist pig part, well, I think that's already started. LOL. I hope at some point I can provide good job for those who need them.

Thanks again!

Yes, I have an excellent idea.. Switched off your phone and deactivate your FB and work smarlty...

Best Advice I NEVER took: "Don't go into business with your spouse." It ain't easy, but it can be done. Hubby & I celebrate the Big 20 next year. :yesnod:

I'm glad I hadn't heard that one. Spouse and I celebrated 15 years in August and we've been in business together for 10 of them. It's a good thing we like each other!

It seems inevitable that a spouse would help with a business, even if they don't work full time. Seems like hard advice to take.
