Squid, I don't think you'd be gone for long. There's not many places in this world where we could even think to have a discussion like this.... my :money:

I think (imho) that we need to respect the position but not necessarily the person in it. They need to gain that themselves.

very well said.. I agree :claps:

This is a political discussion, not a theological one. But somehow religion always finds its way into politics, doesnt it..

Well... seeing as it was *why* our founding fathers started this country...

BTW: The phrase "separation of church and state" is never specifically used in the constitution. It is a political concept over which people have debated over the years.

The intention of my previous post was not to make a joke. I do pray for president Bush.

That may be the most consice argument in the whole thread. And its a really good point too.

Agreed. I gave my solution. Someone should kill the president, thats my solution.:bigok:
I don't see it as a solution. A solution must encompass identification of WHO would replace him after he dies that will support your ideals, and whether he/she has means to attain the office.

The biggest problem, He3x (imo), is that the governing officials dont use it in the spirit which was intened by the fathers of our democracy. I truly believe that our leaders need to be held to a higher standard than those over whom they preside.

You are absolutely right, LS. But let me add more. It's easy to blame on government. But the problem also exists in families and communities. Freedom speech and expression in pornography? Name-calling? Swearing? Sexual freedom? If the fathers woke up from the dead, they would've died again instantly...

Good points, He3x. I think the freedom issues come down to ethics and morals. We're a rather prudish society. If we had grown up with all the freedoms of expression that you mentioned I dont think we would balk at it. Its just what we'd be used to. There are cultures where sex is encouraged as soon as the person is sexually mature. Its just what theyre used to.

And youre certainly right about the assassination.. I surely dont want Cheney in charge. - Imagine if scott baio had a series today.. Cheney in charge.

Has anyone heard of anyone of substance for 2009???

You mean you're not now???? j/k?? LOL

By 2009 you'll be in a jail somewhere by then because you'll have left the country....tried to exercise a 'freedom' that you've grown accustomed to...and gotten your big pecans (pronounced pee-cans) in trouble....

And as for the president? My dogs could run this country better than him. If he were left alone, I don't think he could find the front door of the white house.

All of you who think they can do better, why don 't you?........

yeah, that's what I thought......easy to have a big mouth and b*tch about other incompetent fools.

...and I'm not saying our daddy isn't dumb as a doorknob, sure he is! And the greatest country in the world (cough) is spiriling downward with an alarming accelaration echoed by the laughter from the rest of the nations........

P.S. gr8nrg for president 2009! <-- will rule with an iron fist! liberalism is what killing our society
