2 Years of ViaTalk VoIP Phone Service for $199

As I said I got a $99 SunRocket 1 year deal that I saw here on Spoofee. I'm sure there will be some other SunRocket promo next year that I can take advantage of...probably a $199 for 2 years since they are competing with V.T. and others out there. But the $99 deal I could not beat. There were no other charges for equipment or shipping or E911. And for a first dip in the VoIP pool, it was a very wise choice. I wasn't sure I would be able to get a good VoIP connection since I have friends who have tried VoIP (Earthlink) and have never had a clear connection on their line.

So for 1 year I'm set and this deal breaks even for me after 3 months. Bye Bye local phone company.

SunRacket!!

The Bernie Ebbers of Sun Racket were still running their 2 year scam in June'07. Only 1 month ago... I'm currently in the middle of my agreement with SunRacket and they go Bankrupt? What gives?

Never never never sign a year in advance contract with a voip company just to save money, because if you do, and they close up like sun rocket, you lose all that money. Vonage is mont to month, most I will lose with them is my 15/month fee plus the fees and taxes, 17 something a month. I recommend vonage, been with them for over 2 years, no issues, no headaches, no lost money, and I still have phone service.

Deal is back on. 2 years, 2 lines, $199.

Use my referral code: 34427 Thanks!

I was a Sunrocket customer, and tried to switch to ViaTalk when Sunrocket went belly-up. Viatalk had best feature package and best price. Unfortunately they were overwhelmed with Sunrocket Refugees, so I went with Teleblend (Sunrocket's "recommended" successor).

Teleblend's price (12.95 per month for duration of my Sunrocket contract, then 19.95 per month) and service OK, but they still use Sunrocket's website to manage my account. That has me nervous.

With Viatalk offering this two year deal (which works out to less than $10 per month), obviously they feel they are over the "rush" of new business every VOIP provider got in late July/early August.

One interesting feature Viatalk offers is call recording. Dial *99 before calling someone and a recording of the call will go to your voice mail. This is legal, since law allows recoding calls without court order as long as one party is aware it's being recorded.

Yes, there's a risk in long term contract, but pay with credit card and let them fight it out if provider walks. If you contest charge, burden is on them to prove charge is legit. Sunrocket fired everyone, so there was no one left to respond to charge backs. Customer wins by default and credit card company becomes the unsecured creditor, not you.

I was a SunRocket customer and thankfully got our numbers transferred to a cell phone plan. We were monthly subscribers. I liked their service, but will never go VOIP again after how SunRocket was so rude in closing shop with no warning. The market needs to mature first.

Are We Boneheads?????!!!!#$%*&#@!

Yea, Skype offer - two years $29.99
Unlimited Calling - a full year of unlimited calls to anyone on any phone within the US and Canada for just US$14.95.:yo: :yo:

Ok, what is going on here?

[1] Spoofee who started this listing, from what was posted, obviously knows nothing about how sunrocket disappeared one morning leaving 200,000 pre-paid subscribers high and dry. Viavoip acted like real slime balls to get the desparate customers. Are your memories that shortt? Or, is this whole listing just a joke?

[2] lenzar, show me a link please. That deal on Skype ended on 1/15/07 so far as i can find.

[3] Back to viavoip, are there ANY additional charges about the $199 for two years? Actvation? installation, cancellation, etc.?

What Is This? Is This A Total Moron??

Check the fine print. ViaTalk keeps half your money $100 if you cancel the service. SunRocket has a full money back guarantee within the first 31 days and prorates your refund after that. I now have the SunRocket service and I absolutely LOVE it. Got my equipment in 4 days and was up 'n running in about 15 min. One tweak of the system was needed, which Cust Service helped me with, and I am getting GREAT quality.

I was able to get in on their special $99 for one year deal so that is truly sweeeeet. I cancelled my local phone service after testing SunRocket for the first week. I'm paying for 1 year what I used to pay for only 3 months phone service. Happy, Happy, Happy!

OK, that did it. Sunrocket is dead. This poster is simply lying. What's going on? Is Spoofee.com now just a bs website?

Here is the chat session with VV about additional costs:
Please wait for a site operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Amy'
Amy: Hello, how may I assist you?
you: I see your ad for $199 for two years. What other charges are there?
Amy: There is a one-time activation fee of $29.95, and a S&H charge of $9.95 on all plans. Also, there is a monthly charge of $1.25 for E-911, and $1.25 for Regulatory Recovery Fee.....these two fees are billed monthly.
you: ok, Is that all? Any other taxes or ANY other charges Amy?
Amy: No, although if you make any international calls, those are billed per minute, so that would be an additional fee you might encounter as well
you: Also, do you provide the hardware? Is there any discount if I provide my own hardware?
Amy: We do not charge you for that equipment initially, although if you cancel and do not return the equipment then there is a $50 charge for that
you: ok. Thank you.
Amy: No problem
Amy: Have a great day!
Chat session has ended.

Magicjack is $30 per year and you asttach real phones. talk4free.com
Skype call quality is highly variable and often very poor.
Geting a skype 'cordless phone' can be very expensive.

Sure, with VV you can turn off the computer which is I acknowledge a true advantage. But, VV, just the monthly fee and tax with VV is more than magic jack.

i have had bad luck with voip and another co. going out of business. i'll pass

I was a Sunrocket customer . . . . pay with credit card . . . . Sunrocket fired everyone, so there was no one left to respond to charge backs. Customer wins by default.

Not how it played out:

- Protested full year charge
- Received tentative chargeback for full $199.00 plus some tax
- "Sunrocket (assignment for the benefit of creditors), LLC" IS THERE TO RESPOND with 15-pages of a fineprint contract that doesn't really apply
- Credit Card company rebilled 5 months.

Yes, I came out whole. No, I did not receive (by default) the contracted full year of service for $199 (under my reading of the 15 pages of fineprint, I was entitled to the full $199 back).

Haven't you people ever run or worked for or dealt with a small business? All businesses live and die by cash flow and small business feel it the most when cash flow is tight. When companies like this start asking for advance payments up front it's because they need the cash really bad to continue operations. They get your 1 or 2 year payment and instead of saving the money and only using 1/12 or 1/24th of the money each month, they spend it all on this month's operations just to stay in business. Sunrocket did this for a couple of years but eventually they couldn't keep gaining enough new customers to pay the current monthly bills since their existing customers aren't paying them any monthly payments. This always happens with this business model. It will happen with ViaTalk eventually if this is their new model. Real legit companies have enough capital to fund normal operations so they'd rather have your consistent monthly payment to keep the cash flow coming in.
