My husband and I are in the process of renting to owning our house that we lived in for two years since we have moved to Florida.A couple of days ago, someone rang our doorbell. This man shoved this huge packet in my hand.I got served. The reason for me being served I found out was nothing that I did,but it seems that our landlord who owns our house and some others, hasn't been paying the mortgage on the house and now our house is in foreclosure.Great.Just a week or less before Christmas.Because I am married,my husband also got served.I also found out that we are the 7th person whose home is now in foreclosure. From a reliable source,we found out that he has been taking all of his renters money they pay every month,we pay $1200 a month and putting the monies in a Swiss bank account for his personal use.Now we were told from his office manager that we were going to get some papers from their office so that because of his dishonesty, the house would be ours free and clear.Today as my daughter and her boss, the landlord's former office manager, left to run errands,we were told our landlord wants his rent,of which I feel he shouldn't get.I don't know what to do.I think we need a lawyer.:prey::rant:

Firstly, I feel so badly for you and am totally OUTRAGED :cussing: at the situation you're in! Yes, get a lawyer - and you'll probably find one to take it pro bono because there's probably a huge stash of $$$ to be made in this case. There's gotta be a special place in hell for people like that

Hey guys, can we please not discuss it anymore as it has been taken care of because I got to the heart of the matter by speaking with our landlord himself.Half of what we were told shouldn't have happened. It wasn't in his Office Manager's position to do and say what she had been doing....spreading lies.As for our house being in foreclosure,I assume he is working things out, that is something that wasn't discussed unless he first brought it up,and he didn't.But I asked and received for the wanted advice, for which I thank you all for contributing. It if weren't you all,I don't know what I would do.Thank you my wonderful Spoofee friends.

MrsK, sometimes God throws a pebble at you in warning of the boulder to come..........based on what has transpired with the landlord, I'd be extremely skeptical of anything he has to say...but if you feel comfortable trusting this person, so be it......:yesnod:.....sometimes the advice asked for is not what one wants to hear, but nevertheless, it's the best advice for the situation......no more 'advice' from me.....hope it works out for ya...

Perhaps it's time to ask a mod to lock the thread.

I have ,Dan.I sent a PM to one of the mods....and I am still waiting.

Color me completely baffled. You "assume" he is working it out. There are certain things in life you don't just assume. One of these things deal with your home's status with the bank when you get served. You still seem to be on the verge of homelessness.

Mrs. K-I don't think we're trying to harp on the situation, but you asked for our opinions and so now we're involved emotionally. While Jimmy could use a little tact in his stocking this year...I have to say-as another opinion-please re-read what he and Preco are saying! "Working it out" w/a landlord who's residences are in foreclosure...."assuming" it'll be OK-because he said so..you do realize it wasn't him who served you with the papers! Don't you think if it were easy enough to "work it out" w/the bank who owns the home, then the millions of people who lost their homes would have? Especially when they had more vested interest (i.e. they actually lived in them..they weren't just investments).

Our concern here can only go so far. As virtual friends all we can do is shout warnings at you because of CONCERN! None of us will be able to help you past a certain point..can't help you pack, can't take you in when you have no place to go!

PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME BASED ON ONE PERSON'S WORD, WHO HAS ALREADY PROVED TO BE IRRESPONSIBLE-(that money may not have been going in a Swiss Account, but it also wasn't paying the mortgage) THAT YOU WILL BE OK! PLEASE SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP. Consultations with a lawyer are always free and they will let you know if you need their legal help or not.
