Trust me, I would have sterilized her after baby number FOUR!! There will be a medical ethics committee formed to see what the jack ass that did the implanting endangered a mother and the babies lives. Just way to dangerous to implant more than two or three embryos at a time. The human uterus cannot sustain the same, thus the "fluke in nature" of a naturally occuring multiple birth over two in the human species. Phew....most women love it when they hit menopause and no more babies!!! Who in their right mind wants fourteen kids at once?!?!

I have 4 kids and 3 stepkids and quite honestly, after 3 kids, it really doesn't make a big difference, although I do have a husband and I have help. I know another family with 8 children, they said the same thing, after 3 it's not a huge deal, but that is a family with a mom and dad who are married. This young lady has a dad who wants to help and a mom who is being a hag, if she can't take her children home, I would turn to mom and ask exactly who she is calling. Honestly folks, this wouldn't be the first time, and it most certainly won't be the last that someone that has a ton of kids sucks the system dry, the only difference is that this one made the news. I feel for her because these embryos were living beings to her and she didn't cave to people's opinions and have the embryos destroyed, I think her outlook is normal as well for a young lady who has just had 8 babies all at once and then gets a flurry of media attention, her head is probably spinning, not to mention her crabby mom turns on her, several times and the mom can't even pay her own bills, what's with that? In any case, as I said before, wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last, by the way, it said earlier in this thread that she is living off of a settlement, you can't get welfare if you have an income so exactly how did she end up as part of the system anyway?

SHE is a major nut job. You cannot give children QUALITY TIME if there are fourteen all crying for attention at once. Not to mention, one doesn't have children to baby sit the OTHER children!! It robs them of their own childhood and capacity to learn and function through developmental stages. Folks and families are stuggling trying to make ends meet and give their kids the best start they can. This woman knowingly has placed innocent children into a situation where the stress of money will indeed be paramount, the media will swarm around like wasps, and even her own family is fed up with her. Let me at her ovaries and uterus!!!!! :mmph:

What most folks do not realize is this...when embryos are implanted, there is a HIGH RISK of division, meaning, multiple twins!!! Most reputable Doctors will not implant more than three, for this very reason. Also, when given fertility medications, multiples are high. Some Mom's will actually have the embryo's removed from utero to give one or two babies a better chance. You know girls, there is a reason we only have TWO BREASTS!!! To feed no more than TWO BABIES at one time!!

Ultimate, I beg to differ. I have four, one.at.a.time....I also have a husband who does what he can, and at one point, I had additional help (my parents-but no longer)....it depends on their spacing......the more they are spaced out, the easier it is....:yesnod: Mine are spread out over 7 years, four has pushed me over the edge, it defies all logic and sensibilities. Not to mention very logistically difficult to travel with and quite expensive.

How, as a single parent, can anyone expect to support and nurture 14 children? Especially with 8 newborns at once? Someone (or some) will be neglected and deprived. :yesnod: It is physically, mentally and financially impossible on your own. :yesnod: She is not and has never been, independently wealthy. :nonod:

Nadya is a spoiled brat who needs mental help. She has abused her mother who has for years taken care of her 6 children while she trotted off for plastic surgery and in-vitro treatments and extra marital affairs.... Now her father, in his 'golden years' and probably out of sheer embarrassment has stepped up to the plate to attempt to throw a grain of salt into a vat. He is not independently wealthy neither. Neither is her mother who has not paid her mortgage for 10 months and faces forclosure...the same house where Nadya and her prior 6, now 14 kids were expected to live. Mind you, it was a 3 bedroom home.

How irresponsible is this person and you defend her?

Do you live in California? If you do..on top of supporting your children...you will now face a multi-million dollar hospital bill just to get these 8 children out of the hospital. That does not include follow visits, nor the extra amount of medical care these premature, underweight newborns will incur...not to mention disabilities which will need addressing neither....and we haven't fed nor clothed them yet neither......nor schooled (most likely some special ed) which the state of California will also be picking up (tax dollars).....I could go on....

So please....tell me again what a wonderful thing this woman has done and how fortunate we are to have such a lunatic leach in our society. :lost:

Mind you...I didn't even address the emotional nor social needs of any of the children..... they will be neglected...children deserve parents who will be there for them....there is no way she can in any aspect address these children's basic needs.....:nonod:

I agree w/Rags. The first thing I said when I heard was that they should remove those kids-it's without a doubt a case of child endangerment. And the Doctor should be charged too. It makes me sick to my stomach to imagine their situation. Babies should be held and cuddled and dotted over non-stop. Not processed like an assembly line. Which one of those little angels is ever going to feel special on their own right. ...ugh! shivers I get! How some people take these precious little gifts so lightly is beyond me!

One of the nerves this story has touched off in me is that fact that when my husband and I have attended informational meetings regarding adoption and/or foster care because we would love to expand our family that way, there are clear "rules and regulations" if you will that must be complied with in order to do so. Among them, the need to show proof that we have stable income and could reasonably provide for said child, that there is a separate bedroom for the child, etc.. (We do not have an issue with any of these requirements by the way;just stating fact). Bottom line is no one in her situation would be allowed to ADOPT even 6 children, never mind 14!!

So it just feels like there should be some legal way of saying, "Look lady you have six could children you are currently unable to provide for and just had 8 more. Sadly we will need to step in and place these children in other homes." I think her children being placed in other homes is really the only rational thing to do.

To answer Ultimate's earlier question, Nadya explained that she received a one time lump payment of approximately $165,000 about eight years ago. That does not last forever, especially when you are using it for fertility treatments. She has THREE of her original six children receiving disability which gives her approximately $2700/month and she is using her student loan money for the family to live on ( say ). Wonder what the Student Loan People think hearing that on national television?

Listening to her, I think she was going to use these kids as a meal ticket even BEFORE she ended up pregnant with the 8. Even if she just had one more child was just going to start courting her local press/public sympathies with the I-am-a-single-mother-with-7-kids to feed story.

I will say a prayer tonight for all the NON-CRAZY women struggling with infertility who would sell everything they owned to just mother one of those 14 children. Maybe that is His plan after all....to let 14 other women hear themselves called Mom.
