I am beginning to learn JavaScript and HTML on my own, but would like a companion book to have also. Are there any beginner HTML or JavaScript books you recommend or know of, that are written for a new user?

Thanks in advance!!

If you go to a moderately-sized bookstore, there will be entire shelves devoted to html, javascript, css, and similar subjects. I'm assuming your reference to Java was an error, as that is another category entirely. It's usually best to choose one on your own, based on the level you feel comfortable with. For my own part, I've generally been happy with books from O'Reilly Publishing.

Thanks I will check into books from that publisher, and no, my reference to Java was not an error.

Okay, well, my advice for Java is, unless you've got a good background in programming already, don't try to self-teach Java. Find a class at a local community college.

Javascript and html should be fine to teach yourself from books, though. (You do know that Javascript has nothing to do with Java, right?)

My apologies. Long day yesterday. I fixed my original message. Yes, I am interested in JavaScript only. Not Java, and I was aware that they are two different things, although I did not present that very well :-)

Thanks again!
