I waited until after Midnight last night to try. I tried three times (myself and two friends). On the first two tries, I got the message above. However, on the third try, I won a t-shirt.

I think the "due to the tremendous response" message is the default "you did not win anything" message, and has little to do with them actually being out of instant win items.
 
Maybe they changed the code.....didn't work for me this time but did last time.
