I just got this email.
Good afternoon,
Recently, you expressed interest in organizing an Equal Exchange House Party. Hosting this event requires sharing the mission of Equal Exchange (www.equalexchange.coop) and providing guests with small samples of our high quality products. People like to invite their friends, family, co-workers or members of their church. These gatherings help build momentum for Equal Exchange and our mission of fairness to small scale farmers. Were you planning to invite people to get together with the purpose of learning about Equal Exchange?
These kits are not free. It takes hard work and commitment to get people to attend your event. You need to prepare the coffee using our brew guide, communicate the importance of buying Equal Exchange products and then report back to us after the event. We are building a network of committed participants.
Most events include the purchase of our products at wholesale to sell to guests. Was this what you signed up for?
Recently, the kits were prominently advertised by free-stuff websites all across the internet. While we usually receive one request a day, we received over 7500 in a period of a couple days. We are a small fair trade organization and are unable to handle this number of requests. Therefore we have recently removed the program from our website.
If you want to use these kits to engage people in your community about Equal Exchange, buy Equal Exchange coffee or teas at wholesale to sell, and report back to us after your event, I welcome you to contact me and we can start planning your event.
