(Enabled) Reputation level/points

Me too! Doesn't EBay have some kind of points system like that for sellers? This could come in handy when it comes to flagging serial reposters or referral skunks. I don't understand any rule abiding member's opposition to a rating system. We're not selling anything here - just linking to what we believe to be freebies...Can someone help me understand this objection?.:noidea:

I know a serial reposter and it is really getting on my nerves, I mean reposting things that are right on the first page is just ridiculous! :ignore:

There is nothing (short of a banning) that will get a serial re-poster from stopping.

or (if you really want to get back at them) start a thread on the re-poster, cry "Havoc" and let slip the Spoofeers of war!

WELLLLLL, the objection would be when someone doesn't follow the rules, and knocks you for posting legitimate posts, take for instance, I post a legit post, but someone out there in spoofee land doesn't like what I have to say on a general basis, no skin off my back, BUT for people who really enjoy collecting these points, someone that comes along and knocks them just because they don't like them, would cause a HUGE disagreement. Like someone came along and gave Joyce H (i cannot imagine any reason why anyone wouldn't like Joyce cause she's awesome!) but, someone came along and just gave Joyce all these negative points because they just don't like her, it would cause a HUGE disturbance, I would be miffed about something like that anyhow, does this make sense?

You can have a rep system where you are only are allowed to give rep points and not take them away. This way you don't have people abusing the rep system and people don't get upset.
 
I know I've seen people get upset about the thread rating thing, the 5 stars thingy, never really bothered me, I couldn't give 2 shakes of a rat's behind whether someone likes my posts or not, but some people get really upset about it
 
I think a positive rep system would be a good thing for morale.
 
Agreed, I got the reputation system back up and looking into seeing how I can remove negative reputations.
 
This system is going to be very useful. Everyone has a positive reputation, and it's impossible to change that.
I notice Scoopons has disabled reputation. How's that done on an individual basis?
