Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook for $739 Shipped

No Double layer DVD burner on this notebook!!!

I just found out after using my notebook computer for 3 days that this notebook does not have a double layer dvd burner. I can't believe it. I thought all 8x notebook dvd burner supports double layer by now! grrrrrr...

Hmm...mine is NEC 8x double layer, I would call DELL and ask them why you got that instead. You were supposed to get DL

Anyway, when I got my laptop the other day, I was shocked to discover that NONE of the software that was pre-installed came with it. I mean there were no CDs included with the machine. Since I like to reformat HD and only install what I wanted (XP professional instead, etc.), I needed CDs with original drivers and DELL utilities. I call support and in 5 minutes they set me up with original windows XP disk, Utilities and software CDs, 3 CDs total to be shipped by DHL 2 day service ALL FOR FREE!!!

So if you are missing some CDs or all of them, I'd suggest you talk to CSR. ;)
 
Thanks for the info - I was wondering about the discs as I also had nothing except word perfect productivity pack - not even any instructions on how to operate the darn thing - this was my first experience with a lap top and I had quite a time when I opened mine yesterday - but did find I had wife in my kitchen
 
Is this coupon still valid for purchases now? I tried configuring an inspirion notebook over $1500 and applied the coupon, but it didnt' register. It only applied their current instant off deal for $400. Do you guys know if this expired already?

Believe that all ended - the last of the game $100 had to be used by Jan 4th so spect the other ended also.
